I don’t guess y’all opened the sample up to see what the driver layout looks like by any chance? :wink:

Seems like they’re probably running the XHP-35 at around 1.8A, maybe 1.5. I’ve got one running 3.13A and making 2986 lumens in a Convoy L2 off of Neven’s LD2 with modifications. Wondering if a bit of a bump might be viable for this one. Hmmmm…… dang light hasn’t even shipped and I’m already planning it’s demise. lol

Edit: I DID notice that in y’all’s measurements it hit some 647Kcd, 20’ shy of a mile. Impressive!

I can tell you that the TN42 on Turbo (constant brightness without stepdown like the K70) after 10 minutes running is about 50’ degrees. To hot to hold.
What temperature would it be if you run the XHP35 higher? I think Thrunite made it this way because of safety purposes.

Is there a single cell driver for an XHP35 out there anywhere besides this one?

TaoBao official shop’s seller told that they regulated the XHP35 to 2000 lm (CW) to minimise the risk of “smoking” cases like K70:)
My two K70 both “smoking”…. Haha, even after I changed one of them to NW, it still “smoking”…. (I tried Alchohol, Flux Off, AC11 cleaning, etc… but still failed)

Yeah, I ended up sending my K70 back because of the smoking issue, the driver whining, and because a few of the lower modes wouldn’t work.

The 1.5A would be nice but I don’t know if I can fit a 22mm driver in my M25C2 Turbo. It’s got a 92mm head, I’ve got a fet and a dedomed XM-L2 in there right now. The XHP35 HI foot print is a little smaller than the XM-L2 so it should throw further.

Thanks, appreciate the feedback. If they’re getting that close to a mile out of that reflector with “only” 2000 lumens then I see no real need to worry about bumping output. Dependability is a crucial factor in a search/spot light, sure don’t want it to fail during use for that last little tweak.

I understand that you have huge hands,so as to handle such a beast.I have the K70 and it is rather difficult for me to handle it easy. :slight_smile:

I have small hands. I don’t expect much to be easy.

(edit: as a matter of fact, if something is too easy I tend to find a harder way to do it. No idea why. The challenge maybe. )

XM-L2 may have bigger die but the emitting area is much smaller than XHP35. My understanding is they throw nearly the same due to the similar lumens/area, but the XHP35 has higher lumens as it consume higher energy (wattage).

Geez, thanks for bursting my bubble :wink: It’s better that way, no need to disassemble it again, lol. I’ve got a couple of old S4 2Bs laying around, they’ll shoot down range a little further but I’d rather have the bigger beam of the XM-L2.

Just got the TN-42. Day late, but hey…

This is a gorgeous and quite large light! The knurling is heavy, very easy to hold. It’s lighter than I would have expected. Battery carrier inserts in either direction. Samsung 30Q flat tops might be a bit short, they rattle. My side button is not showing a blue indicator light like the paperwork suggests, not sure what’s up with that.

I’m a numbers freak, admittedly, and this is serial number 2. Very cool!

The reflector. OMG! :open_mouth: MASSIVE! My TM36Lite looks small beside it.

UI, somewhat different. Click to turn it on for access to L-M-H modes with last mode memory. Long press to turn it on in firefly. Double Click to hit Turbo from anywhere. A second double click for strobe.

I’m not sure I’m buying into the 600Kcd thing, the spot on the wall isn’t convincing me, but my meter will tell me something here in a little while.

Did I mention that the reflector is astonishing? The reflector is astonishing. The AR coated glass lens lets you really see the astonishing reflector. Flippin awesome! lol.
