+1.

On The Road M3 group buy has officially ended. Don't forget follow our group buy thread.

do you think they are 940 lumens in real life or is that overstated? how does it compare against an olight s1 in brightness? especially since olight s1’s are selling for 26 bucks USD on sale on banggood

M3 lumens is overrated, and I have already put a note at the beginning of gb thread . Actual lumen value is about 600lm-650lm. You will be able to achieve slightly over 700lm with the help of copper MCPCB mod and imr cell.

Of course it was over rated, so were most of the women I dated
Didn’t stop me for going back for more.

600 lumens on a 16340 is pretty much par for the course, they are probably doing you a favor not being 900+ as it will just drain the already small cell faster.
Still a good light for the money.

Keith

Damn. im too late :frowning:

New here so apologies if I shouldnt be posting this in the gb thread or overstepping some rules.

Make a new account on Everbuying to get 110 EB (2.20 off points and then use code EONTHE to bring it down to a total $16.79

I measured my M3 5C stock, but using an EFEST V2 550 mAh cell and got:

lumens: 680 @start, 658 @ 30secs

Then after reflowing the stock LED on a 16mm Noctigon and replacing the stock LED wires with good, shorter 24 AWG, I got:

lumens: 734 @start, 724 @30 secs (notice there is less drop now over the first 30secs? That's because of the copper DTP star!!)

For a CW 1A, I'd expect or guess 10-15% higher on a good IMR cell. We usually quote the 30 second time as the lumens measurement, as according to ANSI/NEMA FL1 standards.

So for a stock CW 1A M3, I'd expect to see 720-740 rated output lumens on a good IMR cell. Not sure how that compares to the supplied cell, might be close.

Of course, this assumes (big assumption) my light box is well calibrated (I think it's decent ).

ON THE ROAD M3 920Lm Cree L2 U2 1A Full Pack - $21.99 / Coupon: TROADGB

Wish I knew about this one. Have any coupons for the m6 simple pack?

thx guys. i ordered it on gearbest

is it easy to remove the head/board?

Oh boy, I'm think'n yes. Wish I could recall how I did it . Hhhmmmm. Ok - just reviewed my pics, photobucket OnTheRoad M3, it's start'n to come back. The reflector threads in, so use a good tweezer or pointed needlenose to remove it. The pill assembly comes out the top - nothing special holding it in. Maybe some taps from the tube end are needed, I'll typically use a big nail set, well way over-sized nail set - whatever you may call it. No need to remove the side button.

You have any more deals for this light?

My M3 has a significant parasitic drain. Noticed the cell was down to 2.5A, and then measured it at ~6 mA, but the reading is erratic. I then tested other lights and all faired well - steady, much lower readings, even with an indicator LED lit up. A stock X6R measured 0.565 mA which is considered very high. Most well designed lights measure 0.020 to 0.040 mA, or even less.

In freeme's review, he mentioned 7 umA, which I don't know what it means, but thinking he means 0.007 mA, or 7 uA. So my light might have a problem with the driver. It's the only one I measured that has a consistently erratic reading. I did mod the LED, MCPCB, and used heavier gauge LED wires, so possibly I ruined something in the mod.

Tom , i did a review on M3 in a greek forum back in July , and measured 6μA (6uA) .

Ahh, good to know. Hhmm - sounds like my unit has an issue. Was hoping to do a driver replacement eventually.

It will be really nice with your Narsil , i thought of it too , but i’m quite satisfied with the light & UI.

I got the 0603 parts coming in today from Mouser, and the OSHPark 15 mm triple boards (ordered in thin thickness) from Triple_Ace should arrive in a couple days. Hoping I could jury rig in one of these since it has the full support for reliable operation of the Attiny85.

Hhmm - this would be the smallest light modded to run Narsil, if i can pull it off. I have a Skilhunt H15 14500 size light running it now.

Will you use the existing driver pcb to mount your driver ?
