Thrunite TN 42 ,a new record in Throw

Thanks, appreciate the feedback. If they’re getting that close to a mile out of that reflector with “only” 2000 lumens then I see no real need to worry about bumping output. Dependability is a crucial factor in a search/spot light, sure don’t want it to fail during use for that last little tweak.

I understand that you have huge hands,so as to handle such a beast.I have the K70 and it is rather difficult for me to handle it easy.

I have small hands. I don’t expect much to be easy.

(edit: as a matter of fact, if something is too easy I tend to find a harder way to do it. No idea why. The challenge maybe. )

XM-L2 may have bigger die but the emitting area is much smaller than XHP35. My understanding is they throw nearly the same due to the similar lumens/area, but the XHP35 has higher lumens as it consume higher energy (wattage).
Left to right: XP-L HI, XM-L2 (dedomed halfway), XHP35 HI. (Sorry for dirty emitters, no cleaning done yet:))

There is a Thread about K70 issues.
Youtube - I posted a clip of both my K70 with “smoking”. Actually some one corrected me that it is not smoke (too serious), but kind like “fume” cause by evaporation of tiny particles or residuals on the emitter surface or the reflow base. It is due to very high heat of the emitter (changed to cooler tint at level 5 and 6) by overdriving the XHP35.
XHP35 rated only 1A in their spec, we all pushing it ~3 times higher. For such a small die LED, the wattage (40 W) is “world record” already.
(XM-L2 rated 3A, some push it to 7.2A which is 2.4 times only.)

Geez, thanks for bursting my bubble  It’s better that way, no need to disassemble it again, lol. I’ve got a couple of old S4 2Bs laying around, they’ll shoot down range a little further but I’d rather have the bigger beam of the XM-L2.

My TN42 will be here tomorrow.
Excited a little, lol.

Yeah…I bet you are

If your batteries are topped off, I give it 2 hours of you playing with it before you dismantle it and put a mod or two in place.

Dang it i just bought a acebeam k70 and now this arghhh technology i just cant keep up!Does any one know of any body able to mod the Acebeam K70?

Vinhnguyen54 over at CPF, you can contact him at vinhnguyen54@gmail.com

HTH

And I’m excited to see what your gonna do with it.

Thanks Alex

Just got the TN-42. Day late, but hey…

This is a gorgeous and quite large light! The knurling is heavy, very easy to hold. It’s lighter than I would have expected. Battery carrier inserts in either direction. Samsung 30Q flat tops might be a bit short, they rattle. My side button is not showing a blue indicator light like the paperwork suggests, not sure what’s up with that.

I’m a numbers freak, admittedly, and this is serial number 2. Very cool!

The reflector. OMG! :open_mouth: MASSIVE! My TM36Lite looks small beside it.

UI, somewhat different. Click to turn it on for access to L-M-H modes with last mode memory. Long press to turn it on in firefly. Double Click to hit Turbo from anywhere. A second double click for strobe.

I’m not sure I’m buying into the 600Kcd thing, the spot on the wall isn’t convincing me, but my meter will tell me something here in a little while.

Did I mention that the reflector is astonishing? The reflector is astonishing. The AR coated glass lens lets you really see the astonishing reflector. Flippin awesome! lol.

Ah, ok. Blue light in L-M-H modes when on. Firefly doesn’t trigger it. Turbo and Strobe do, of course. ’s all good.

Serial number 2! Wonderful. Excited to hear stock numbers.

Same here…can’t wait to see beamshots

can i have a pic of the driver please?

Got sidetracked and just got back to it, but the meter numbers I got for lux are kinda stupendous really. Mind you, I loaded it with Samsung 30Q cells, brand new and recently charged. (Early this morning)

I test at 5M, it’s the only place I have to do it. That said I couldn’t believe it when I saw 28100 on my meter (281 showing in x100 mode)! That’s 702.5Kcd! 1676.31M or 1835.235 yds or 1.0416 miles. Holy Cow! Can’t wait to see what some other people test at, as, frankly, this is pretty unbelievable!

On the lightbox, I get these numbers (same cells, not recharging between lux and lumens tests)

Rated at 0.8 lumens……. I got 01.2765
Rated at 38 lumens……… I got 56.166
Rated at 256 lumens…… I got 337.065
Rated at 780 lumens…… I got 1010.85
Rated at 2000 lumens…. I got 2463.3

How does it compare to the K70? :sunglasses:
