Review: ReyLight Pineapple Proto

Nice review. Plan to order one. Does the tail cap screw all the way down without the clip ring in there, or does it leave a gap?

It leaves a gap.

Perfect place for a copper / delrin spacer to set off the look… or even an O- ring

Nice review! Between you and Dale, we got a super duper good look at this one!! :+1:

THANK YOU! We all appreciate your time and effort to do the review. TL

The clip was made by hand, we will make a molding for the mass production, it will be stronger and thicker. Don’t worry.

Thanks Rey, that’s good to hear. BTW, when is the light coming out?

It’s a great light and am glad to be able to review it here. I’ve done a lot of reviews on CPF, but have been on a bit of a break. This is my first review on BLF!

Thanks for the comments guys/gals, I appreciate it.

ToyKeeper, it’s about the same size as the Thrunite T10T but a lot heavier.

The glow material was originally purchased from Korea through eBay. The seller no longer sells it so I’m unsure as to where to get more. I use it for triple optic glow stickers (That I sell on CPF) and I put it in most of my lights where I can.

Thanks for the comments. I don’t have a scale but the pineapple is far heavier than the other lights since they are ti or aluminum.

When is your better half’’s birthday? Buy a nice electronic kitchen scale with a 1 gram precision, like I have done.
And show the world that not all of your money is selfishly spend on your own hobby.

Thanks for the great review, Gunga! Hope this comes out in other metals too…

Hmmm. Great present.

I saw one at costco. Maybe I’ll pick it up next time.

Rey did good with this light. Fix the clip and I’ll have to get one.

removed statement about LED lumens as these appear to be out the front lumens.

According to Nichia’s spec sheet, this is where the 219CT R9050 emitter ideally lies on the cie chart. Of course they have tolerances.

I just ordered this beauty! :+1:

Nice Review Gunga, thanks for all your hard work! It’s a really thorough presentation of the light, with the pros and cons impartially stated. (I also enjoyed reading Dale’s review, with its many, precise close-up pictures.)

Brass material and more complex machining aside, I can’t help but compare the Pineapple’s modes and functionality with L3 Illumination L10C/11C. Having several of the latter already, I don’t think that I’ll spend my loot on the former… but if I was in the market for a brass AA light, this would certainly be a tempting choice, at a bargain price.

The L10C and L11C are notoriously fragile, often failing after a small drop. Otherwise they are nice lights.

No argument there, though I thankfully have had no such issues. Also, the clicky switch on the L10C/L11C is not my favorite, and just from looking at the pictures in this review, it seems like the overall build quality of the L10C/L11C is not comparable to this light. I was just looking at emitter/tint quality, and output levels.

Yep. They are good value lights.

Where do you get those glow rings, and what are they exactly? Looks awesome.

The glow material is a glow sticker I purchased from eBay (I got two colours). Unfortunately the seller no longer sells it so I’m unsure of where to get more It’s nice, seems fairly heat resistant and glows a long time.

I punch or cut the rings out myself and use it on most of my lights where possible (and sell it for triple optics).

I also bought some glow tape for more variety in colours, it’s vinyl and is more soft and does not glow as long.
