Thrunite TN 42 ,a new record in Throw

Beam shot comparison to my other main throwers, 610 yds to the white barn.

MaxToch Shooter 2X with XHP-35 at 3.13A doing 2986 lumens for some 332Kcd

Convoy L6 with de-domed XP-G2 S3 0D and mtn Buck driver on 2 26650’s at ~5.5A for 439Kcd

Thrunite TN42 XHP-35 at a measured 2463 lumens and 702.5Kcd

I shot this with the beam pretty much parallel to the road some 250 yds to the right. A car stopped and watched, not sure if it was Johnny or not but when I was done they went on.

That’s astonishing. Good job thrunite! And good job on that convoy l6, Dale. That’s prtty amazing throw.

I need to get me one of these tn42’s but with another driver if possible. I would like turbo to be memorized.
You can prolly get 3000 lumens and 750k lux with your mods.
Gosh, I wonder what one can get with dedome xpl or a xpg2 lol. 1million k lux?!

Turbo is a double click away, from any position.

Hard to wrap the mind around a million candela, isn’t it? The K is of course a thousand, 1Mcd, the K is dropped and replaced with M. I don’t know if a bare XP-G2 would hit that or not, the lumens would be half at around 1100 as compared to 2463 and that would difficult to overcome. Not sure how it’d play out. Makes me wish the L6 were made a little differently, more like an D01, so the bare emitter I have in the L6 could be staged in the massive TN42 reflector…

Is the TN42 reflector larger than the K70’s? If it is then it makes sense that the TN42 does throw better, of course this doesn’t take away the fact that the TN42 is one insane thrower, 700kcd is on par with my 55W HID spotlight!

Btw do you have any mod thread of your modded Convoy L6? 436kcd wow, does it have smooth or the stock OP reflector?

100mm head, it’s big! Like, virtually the same size as a BTU Shocker…

I was fortunate enough to get a prototype smooth L6 reflector. JDub is having me and KawiBoy do some testing and make recommendations, we have done so, hoping to see a final release soon that is mod friendly for us all.

I noticed on the Taschenlampen forum that the pass-around sample TN42 was serial number 001. So how cool is it that I actually got serial number 002?

Numbers freak, it’s so flippin awesome when the numbers have a story to tell. lol

Woah…

That is really huge.

I’m gonna put it on a chain and wear it around my neck on Halloween. :stuck_out_tongue:

Why not? Nothing to be ashamed of :+1:

That is Cool, so are you going to do the passaround here in the States??? :open_mouth:  :+1:

Alex, I’ll shine it your way, you grab the beam…

Well, mine is cooler, 007 :person_facepalming:

Was quite surprices from the lumen output/candelas too yet DB Custom mentiones similar results…it seems that its a secretly bumped revision…lets hope they wont “nerf” the next revision.

My idea was to open and mod it asap but it so great …and the reflector is so good…i wonder how long will it last this way.

A great hunting offhand torch indeed, especialy the NW- when i ordered those the tint was only cool white yet its aint cool but more or less like 1D

By default they aint that bad, even non modded, even paired with an XHP0 emitter, the “cross” is very small indeed by default and the CDs went from 62k up to 90
Then again it needs tuning to be as the L2 one but i am pretty sure Simon will manage it

Hnnnnnng. I feel a sudden urge to replace my K70….

Interesting, I forced my internet to open the Taschenlampen page again and guess what? They have many pictures of a Thrunite TN42 SN:BM09 00002!!! EXACTLY the same as mine! Huh? Is this the actual pass around light that was in Germany?

<—- scratching head

LIke 3 months ago BG were cleaning their EU warehouse and i got several M3X- they got same serial numbers , all of them…
Maybe its a glitch in their system, maybe its a mistake….who knows, yet i am pretty sure yours was not just for the tests in Germany , that shipping all over the planet would nuke its final price.

Does it have “”chips”, nips or something? Usualy TN torches come in a perfect shape

I don’t have a K70… but I sure am feeling an “urge”……… :person_facepalming:
What to do, what to do? :money_mouth_face:

Very strange indeed. My light is marked exactly the same… but in a different place!

At Taschenlampen their light is marked on the ramped portion of the head, between the bezel and the housing or pill section. My lamp is marked on the bezel.

And here is my light, with the same technical text but placed differently… (mine has the ROHS designations, a production light, while the sample pass-around light does not)

The TN42 in TLF is damaged at the XHP-35 and has a mark on the reflector. So it can`t be the same one in your hands.

Robert

My battery carrier has blue pcb’s and the black connecting rods don’t have the writing on them.
