Chose the one (WUBEN Flashlight)

Thing is, type C isn’t a standard at all. It’s only the form factor of the connector. It still can be USB3.0 or USB3.1 1,5amps or 3,0amps. Only type-C says nothing. I would go with mini or micro. It’s good enough for a flashlight. USB-type-C still fighting it’s “standards-game”. Doest it include thunderbolt, at which amp it functions, it all different specs which makes it a very unclear standard.

i dont agree,

I think having a type c port would be great but only if it behaves like a usb device should, as in it follows the correct usb specs for the type of device it is.

with a USB c port it could be possible to use it as a usb battery pack as well if desired with the correct hardware etc.

its great to see the type c port being looked at but do it properly or not at all.

Most of us here would rather have quick access to low (or moonlight) and turbo, but NOT strobe!

I like that no micro knurling is used, for me this is just a dirt magnet. New anodizing colors are always welcomed like grey, olive or tan. I dont like the design of the first prototype, a long thin tube + large head looks kind of oldschool. I voted for the 18650 prototype

It won't be a problem if the batteries are same voltage and internal resistance.

Hmm, torn between T102 and T103. Like David said, I’m not a big fan of aggressive crenellations, so I like the looks of T103 the best. But it does appear to have much less mass and heat sinking, which makes me wonder how long it’ll run before stepping down. Can’t wait to hear more about them!

And USB Type-C is a defined spec, details of which can be found here. But it’s a connector specification, much like USB Type-A, Type-B, Mini-B, Micro-B, etc. Not to be confused with USB 3.1 (a communications spec) or USB Power Delivery (brief article here). And yes, it is less common, but it is the future. Nearly all new flagship Android phones (and some Apple products) are using USB-C.

Nice looking lights Wuben! My favourite is the single 26650 XHP-70

althought T103 flashlight use type-c charging port, while now there are not too much charger to suit them
I aggre type C is a irreversible tread but now it is not convient to use type C
I donot want to carry another charger only for the flashlight

so I will choose none

Nice to see USB Type C! Every new high-end Android device uses Type C. Micro-USB is a shit connector that needs to be put out of its misery.

I like the T102. I’ve been wanting to buy a single 26650 light.

Choose one: T103 looks like a nice light however, the heatsinking fins are very shallow and I question weather they are in the right place. Does this light use a pill that screws in or a shelf that’s part of the head? Thanks

Choose T102
Seems the most balanced design to me.
I wonder if the bezels do a lot with the beam.
Type C connector is smart and progressive, like it.

Any battery included WUBEN?

You can’t guarantee that will be — and continue to be — the case.

Series charging eventually becomes unsafe for the customer.
Probably after your warranty expires.

Take 2 identical cells.
They drain down exactly the same way to the same voltage.
They start at the same low voltage when charging.
They recharge to exactly the same voltage.
No problem.

That never happens. Cells age — and heat cycling ages cells faster.
The cell closer to the heat source will be hotter each time.

And people aren’t removing the batteries, so they’re not getting put back in randomly.

The cells slowly diverge.
If they drain down to exactly the same voltage (if there’s a voltage shutoff in the driver)
Then, as they differ, they will recharge to slightly different voltages.

If they’re protected cells and you’re relying on cell protection to stop the drain
the protection circuits will not be (or remain) identical.

Result — no problem for a while, and eventually you’ll have two rather different cells being recharged in series.

That’s a problem.

Just my opinion, “and I”m just some guy on the Internet”:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Template:cite_guy_in_bar.

But you should talk to an engineer who understands this, not a marketing person.

Type C is for the birds. Count me out

T102 looks good. I think micro usb is a better option. My phone is new and still uses micro usb not many phones use type c yet.

I disagree and agree depending on how strobe is accessed. I don’t like cycling thru a bunch of modes to get there and I don’t like activating it when I don’t need it. A set up like the XTAR WK’s or BK or the Fenix PD’s and UC’s where you have to hit the button a certain way or hit another button is ideal. When I need strobe I need it immediately. I’ve used it a number of times this year to wake up dummies before they added themselves and their cars to accidents. If I had strobe available 15 yrs ago at a similar scene there would be one less guy in a wheelchair today.

PS I voted 103 but it’s a toss up between 102 and 103 for me.

103 looks the best to me… 101 I think the batteries should be side by side not end to end, that long tube with the giant head looks disproportionate. I have never used the strobe option on any of my lights. I find it useless to me, I’d rather see hi-med-low. Personal preference, I can see where strobe can be useful to some individuals as jf_smm just pointed out.

I am a 26650 kinda pimp.

It is integrated shelf. The fins around the button are in the right place, that's where the LED sits, the reflector is long.
