Need a simple AA torch that turns on in low or has memory

It will test your patience. I’ve had both fast shipping, and shipping where I wondered if the package got lost. That’s why, unless I’m truly in no hurry, I order off of ebay and pay a few dollars premium.

GB must have been listening in… I just got it today!

Quite nice, wish I had gotten another one, but the sale’s long over.

I’ve got enough 1×AA mini-lights to last me a while, but a 2nd Jetbeam like this would be nice!

Gotta confess, one of my fave 1×AA lights is my old River Rock (Target house-brand). Nice bright light that stays constant right up to the end, ’til you just can’t fire it up any more. I always carry spare AAs when I’m packing an AA-light, so that’s not a bother to me.

Might be this one…

Yeah, might be that one. His is waaaaaaay more weatherbeaten than mine, and this looks a lot more like mine
http://glennmoller.com/rock-river-1-watt-led-flashlight/
being not so beaten-up.

Never had a problem with mine, thank B’harni.

They’re baaaaaaaaack! 13bux, not 12, though.

Nice sale on Panny-Bs and 30Qs, too.

(I find it somewhat scary that I can say things like that last sentence and people actually know wotnahell I mean. )

AAA, single mode, but I got one of these. Nice, very tiny:

I’d probably go for a cree 7W 300, those could blind someone if needed. The last one I got, I think after last Christmas, was good. $2.50, single mode though.

If you ordered a few, might get good one.

I looked at the review of the Klarus, that might be a good one. $39.95 is pricey, but you can spend that, or more, on dinner.

You might consider The Xtar WK50 AA alkaline but it doesnt start on low. Theres an individual on ebay selling them for 9.59 free SH but they only come in pink. I ordered one for my wife because it was pink lol. It was nice so i just ordered another for my daughter. Good Luck

I wasn’t going to bring it up since it takes a AAA, but given the wide variety that you have had posted already so far, Ill add the Astrolux A01 to the list.

I now have several, one on each kids keys, one in each travel toiletry bag on a lanyard long enough to loop around your wrist. Since they are AAA size I even used a couple as zipper pulls on our tents. The low mode with a Lithium primary makes a great - nightlight / find the zipper in the dark / pop the larks head and take it with you to the comfort station - light.

Its a twisty, low - med - high - low - med - high - strobe. Easily enough to navigate a campground, so a hotel would be cake.

I got one on Amazon, also pink, which is fine because people’ll be less likely to swipe it from me.

Frankly, the semi-gloss finish in pink looks quite nice. Almost satiny…

The switch is the worst part, though. Kinda stiff and finicky, and there’s a really narrow divide between half-click and full-click (like 80% pressure for half and 100% pressure for full), enough to be annoying when you just want to change modes and end up full-clicking it instead.

For the same bux (~13), I think I’d rather stick with my twisty Jet-1. Changing modes is a deliberate act, not an “Oh, crap, it flickered on me because I was trying to half-click it and it cycled through 3 modes instead…” accident.

The WK50 in twisty instead of clicky would be nigh perfect, then. Just my 2¢…

Just to add to this, the Jet-1 being twisty would make sure it’d start in low once it’s set to that mode. You’d have to deliberately twist/untwist/twist in quick succession to change modes.

+1, and in NW if that’s your thing.

I love those Jetbeam Jet-1 MK’s. Recently, they were as low as $10.99 on flash sale at Gearbest. Giving out a lot of those this Xmas. Ho-Ho-Ho! And Sanrenmu 7010’s too, for those who have been really good.

About 5 months ago, Xtar direct started closing out lights. The WK-50 in pink was one of them. I order 2 for giggles. I think I also got a couple of WK-42 (16340/CR123a) for like $12 a piece? Not like I needed them, but hey, $12…Don’t judge.

I had planned to use the Jetbeams as an EDC, to burn through the myriad of AA primaries I have lying around the house in various stages of discharge, but now I’m using the WK-50 for that purpose. Funny thing about one of the WK-50’s. My daughter dropped one and it stopped working. Was debating whether or not it would be worth it to ship back a $7 flashlight and was also curious about what would happen if I stuck in a 14500. Oddly, the light now runs on 14500. Fairly bright, too. BTW, according to the documentation, the WK-50 does not support 14500. Hey, my first mod!!

Anyway, I’m using the other WK-50 daily. For $7, it’s hard to beat. Buy many in case a battery leaks or she loses another or for whatever other reason. Or you could spend a little more and go the Jet-1 way. At least the Jet-1 comes with a pocket clip, which probably doesn’t matter to her. I also carry a Skilhunt H15 and Nitecore MT10a, but the WK-50 is the main because I have no pride and who’s gonna steal a pink flashlight from me? Heck, someone’s actually returned it to me. LOL The WK-50 does have some sharp corners and I can see how some wouldn’t like the switch. I’ve gotten quite used to it. And it does have mode memory, as does the Jet-1 MK.

BTW, Jetbeam JET - u on sale at gearbest for $10, if you don’t mind AAA. Jet-1 MK is 13 and change. While we’re on the subject of Jetbeam, a while back, I bought the JETBeam MINI - 1. They go on sale for under $17. Tiny keychain flashlight, 130 lumen on high, 9 lumen on low, usb rechargeable and comes with a 10180 Li-Ion rechargeable battery that charges through a micro-usb port. One of my very favorite keychain lights. It’s a twisty. Turns on in low and as you continue to rotate, it moves to high. Super simple to operate.

BTW, I don’t work for Jetbeam, Gearbest or Xtar. Just put a lot of their kids through college.

Hmm, 7bux a pop? Even Xtardirect has them for 22bux each. At first I thought they may’ve been selling a 3-pack, 1 of each color, but nope!

The switch is annoying, but they’re still decent lights, even at the 13bux I got mine for offa Amazon.

For the same price, though, I’d stick with the Jet-1 over the WK50, but if I could get them for 7bux a pop… stocking-stuffers!

As for burning down AAs, whatever doesn’t power my Quark anymore — oh, Hell, what doesn’t power my wireless optical mouse anymore — I stick into my 3buk AA side-clicky light, which works fine right down to “moonlight mode” when the AA alkie just starts to ooze.

That little light is what I keep on my table at night when I don’t want to ruin my night-vision. No more “Gaaaah! I’m blind!” by accidentally turning it on in “turbo” mode.

I preset mine before I hit the sack. I think I got emailed a flyer from Xtar back when. I thought that if you ordered over $30, they paid shipping, but even from their ebay store, it’s $7 and $2.60 to ship, which is pretty darn cheap. That being said, I thought I saw the Jet-1 MK on flash sale for like $10.60 so I’m more likely to go that route. Still, $7…. lol I’m such a sucker…

Those jetbeam jt-1 come in WW? Looks like the sipik sk68, which I like, but haven’t found a good source ( in part , because I need to look lol)

It’s a lot slimmer than an sk68, no sliding zoomer, no tail button. Flat glass lens, OP reflector and IPX8. IMO it’s much better made.
AFAIK LED tint is not an option. Good luck!

Just ordered a Jet-1 MK for $12.21 from Gearbest using coupon code MKDEAL. Was actually $10.99, but I added insurance.

Kewl, tnx!

Was wondering if that’s 2.60 total, or per-unit. If total, pretty good!

I think it was the Jet µ that was flashing for ~10bux or so. Tempted, then remembered it uses AAAs. :stuck_out_tongue:

And yeah, I’m like a fat kid in a candy store when it comes to lights, now.

Yeah, I always add insurance and tracking, which kicks up the price a bit, but I’d rather not have problems later.

It is the vendors responsibility to get the product to you. Once they find out that you have insurance they may consider themselves off the hook and are less likely to reship something that they may have never shipped to begin with.
Most of us have gotten fake tracking numbers from most of the China vendors, it is one of their many tricks to buy time for something that did not drop ship on time.
Tracking is worth it if it works, that is not always the case either.

Insurance is money that you may as well get out of your pocket and set on fire.
PayPal is all the insurance you need. If they don’t want to back you up, then your credit card company should.
Always use credit card and not paypal balance.

Yeah, I can see both sides of the issue. Only ordered from GB veryvery recently, so had no idea how reliable they might be.

Eg, I’ve mainly dealt with FT who, despite being painfully slow, always got me my goodies with no extra ding for tracking or insurance.

In fact, probably 9 out of 10 times, their supplied tracking number does carry over to the USPS site for tracking. In fact, one just arrived in the local PO and I should be getting it tomorrow morning. Email alerts are wonderful…

I think the ones via China Post carry over to the USPS. Those via Singapore Air(?) don’t. In fact, of this order, which was split into 2 shipments, one was trackable and one wasn’t.

Amazon just plain has their a-to-z policy, and I’ve known people who’ve been actually happy to get wrong merch. Eg, my gf ordered some Panny-Bs which were unprotected, even said so in the fine-print, but the pic clearly showed the sense-strip running down the side (and button-top, while what she got were flat-tops). I just nudged her about the wording to use, and Amazon told her to kindly keep the unprotected cells and donate/use/toss/etc. them as she saw fit, and they’d refund the purchase price. Wow!

And I got a nice set of (legit) Panny-Bs out of it, so I’m not complaining!

I don’t do PP, so everything would be by card only. And yeah, on principle I hate insurance, but I wonder if GB would be all like, “Well, you could’ve added insurance and we’d’ve sent you a replacement package, but you didn’t, so you’re SOL.”.

I could always grex here in public about being screwed, etc., and hopefully a rep would make good on it, if only to keep up appearances.

I’m still waiting for my goodies from them, so I’m getting kinda antsy.

Basically, I’m still kinda new to GB, only got my Jet1 and am waiting for a buncha other goodies, so have to see how they turn out over time.

All good points.
The Swedish NL post is the one for me that the tracking is useless.
I used to not upgrade the shipping, but now go to the USPS E-Packet for usually less than $2, which after the BLF discount comes out close and it is worth every penny.
Now 2 weeks is the norm from China, where before it was 3 1/2 to 4 weeks.
FastTech is a good shipper and most of the good vendors have upped their game as of late.
Always when possible order one item per shipment, those split shipments are asking for trouble.

Amazon is the best, will gladly pay more to buy from them, they just make it so pleasant.
Thanks!
Keith

PS; that Jet 1 is a rockin flashlight, great quality, TRUE Budget Light!
