Review - Astrolux SC Copper 14500 Flashlight

Rolz, 200+ grams is pretty weight.
Do you have any problem/inconvenience when carrying this flashlight in your pocket?

Rolz has no problem carrying this light as he is an aussie, & aussies are bred strong.

For most people it should be fine. The flashlight is much heavier than any of the same size that I know of, but as it’s quite compact it fits in the pocket nicely. With jeans on not an issue. In looser trousers it’s more noticeable and may be a little too heavy for some.

Thanks Rolz.
As patmurris’ saying, I’m trying to find reasons not to buy this flashlight

I did not click on the link but the post itself looked suspicious.

And the account was made literally today. :confounded:

theyve got this on massdrop for $40 plus p&p although it shows me p&p will be $7 to the UK. which is currently cheaper than bandgood which is now $59.99 (for me anyway)

Thanks for reading the review, and also thank you for your great reviews.

It’s are really nice Flashlight, both in performance and looks. I lost interest in 14500 battery powered flashlights up until I had this one in my hands. I dont have the standard non copper version, but that would also be a great buy for those simply looking for performance. The copper version reviewed in this review is in my mind “a piece of art”.

High @Rolz.
Thanks for the comprehensive and nice review, not to mentioned the excellent beam shots.

If you don’t mind, I posted a link to this review over at my comment on Massdrop page for Astrolux S3 (aluminium) drop as many non-flashaholics there who are interested with the S3 are clueless with what this light can offer.

I’m not affiliated with Massdrop, but just want to help some lost souls over there :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks very much for this most excellent review!

I'd read it a while ago so, while I was on BG picking up another two S1's as prezzies for my son & my daughter's BF, and I spotted the SC for just £26 I knew I had to grab it for that price. I'm not a fan of the smell copper leaves on my hands, it's one thing that bugs me about my S41's so I'll be gifting this to my daughter, it's just her style and the illuminated tail cap will be perfect for when it's in her handbag.

It arrived this morning with the two S1's and it looks fantastic with the exception of a couple of issues. The first and most obvious was the scratches at the top of the head as you can see: http://i65.tinypic.com/2cy36vr.jpg. Luckily it wasn't in the copper but the clear coat that's been applied. I've sorted it with micro-mesh, I don't know how this will affect any patina that might develop. The second issue was really rough threads in the top of the head, nothing that I can do to rectify that bar applying some silicon grease, a bit of a non-issue as I doubt it will be opened again.

The last thing that's driving me nuts is I'm having no luck at all programming medium press/reverse mode. I'm switching it off after six flashes & the buzz flash (and on the buzz flash) but no luck. I had no problem changing the mode group so I have no idea what the issue could be. Any advice from anyone would be most appreciated. :)

them scratches do look bad on the photo.

i to have had trouble trying to change the modes, i think im in the 3 mode but no idea how i managed it. and whther it was the 17 clicks or the 6 clicks to get into muggle mode.

good price though

Hi Loneman, Sorry to read that you received a flashlight with the scratches on the head. I very much like my flashlights in pristine condition, particularly this one as it is a very good looking host. I’d suggest approaching Banggood support with the issue as it should not arrived in that condition.
On the mode changing query I’ve not had the issue you explain, possibly someone else more familiar with the firware can comment on the possible issue here.

Nice review, can tell you’ve been around lights for a while, two Romisen and a C3 in the photo.

Thanks for reading. I’ve lost track of when I bought those flashlights. I’ve had a fascination with flashlights from a young age. The appearance of the Cree LEDs transformed my interest into a hobby.

FYI - I just grabbed a second Astrolux SC from banggood. It’s on sale for $37.95, and I also applied the ef5700 code which brought it down to $30.36! :money_mouth_face: That’s a steal for this light.

i had the chance to swap for one of these from a great member and wow, what a beauty. I had not read up on it prior to the swap so when i got it i tried a AA in in and , darn! no go. read a little and ,oh yeah, needs 14500. Of course I was all out of that size so proceeded to order some, and then some more, and then more again. kept thinking of other 14500 lights that were stranded with no batteries. Threw in a fresh Efest and, WOW, mind boggling! Initially I thought it too heavy but as time went by I now carry it everywhere. what a great light.

@Mod: When you kill it, kill this post also!

Is there anyone here who would like to part with one of these or know where I could get one? I have this need to get more copper
