New flashlight: The "torpedo" flashlight

Here's the link for the search-fu challenged :

It appears to have a PCB that fits in the pill, but no driver.

Looks like an AA version of the N-light B10. I've always loved those lights and that's not a bad price for a good looking copy.

Possibly not. CQG may not include shipping charges and if not then I-O will be much cheaper.

That PCB looks to be for the switch. That host gives new meaning to DIY. The only thing you don’t have to do yourself is mill & anodize the body and grind your own lens. Never saw a kit before this where even the switch had to be soldered onto it’s PCB. LOL!

I stand corrected. It definitely looks like the switch PCB.

i wonder what dia driver board will fit that pill?

You could always buy the complete light, then IMMEDIATELY dismantle it and tell us. :)

please?

CNQG shipping is $1.83 only. So see which one is more "regular" to you and you want to build a rapport with. :)

$1.83 unregistered and $4 registered.

I've been told that orders at Intl-outdoor that are over $20 are shipped with registered post.

I noticed this driver...

Looks like the usual suspect for a decent price but lacks stars to bridge for mode selections. Anyone have experience how to make it hi-med-lo?

Yes, it can be done if you solder the bottom right two pins on the Atmel chip. It will become High Med Low only

Yeah....well i guess no worries if you are a regular with Ric, just do it unregistered.

thanks! I noticed on kd are cheaper at 2,6usd each if bought in 5pack, but good to know. :)

You mean their pack of 5 with 13.99?

Divided by 5 that's $2.79 , yeah cheaper with $0.098, but cheaper indeed.

this:

13,04/5 = 2,608 usd a piece. :)

Different drivers :) take a closer look. 4x1735 vs 3x7135

Arrghh! Alright. :)

The Torpedo is on my shortlist for an AA/14500 EDC flashlight:

It's roughly the same price at IOS or CQG after shipping. Both sites seem to list the same specs but there's a few missing: Run time on High and Lumens on Low. Does anyone have this quirky little light?

More important to me is the beam pattern. These days, I prefer all-throw or all-flood; compromises make me sad. I can't imagine the Torpedo could outthrow my XTAR WK26 (each running a 14500). But I'd love to be proven wrong.
