No, no word at all. Think'n there's been delays, but not sure. Waiting for a pm or a post here.
Have you checked on Dale's #'s for his XHP70's? I trust his measurements more than specs at this point. I know modders have gotten at least 6,000 lumens but not sure of the amps. They might be quoting estimates based on raw LED output at those amps, not sure.
Edit: Just checked my notes, and have to agree with you guys:
My Convoy L6 with an R100 resistor mod using a N4 2A XHP-70 LED:
On LK5000's @4.20V: 7.24A at the tail/clamp meter, @start: 4,801 lms, @30 secs: 4,553 lms, 96 kcd (taken at 5m) for 620 meters
Of course there may be differences between the two lights (drivers, MCPCB's, reflector, lens, etc.), but I definitely think a comparison has merit, and it's "in the ballpark". Mine and Dale's #'s are always close since we use the same meter and same PVC light box design made by the same guy. Also note I measured amps at the tail, not at the LED so possible that 7.24A is lower (or higher?) at the LED.
Just more fyi
Though it's a new company, these guys are experienced at launching new flashlights as you probably could tell, and with the recent change of the firmware as requested by us here for keeping turbo in the main list of modes, I'm sure it added days of delay. They do want to be sure the light is as solid as could be upon launch, so I don't mind waiting a little longer to be sure it's more fully tested. I work in the firmware/product business so I know what happens when you think you are in the final days - the typical 5% rule: 95% done, but the last 5% takes 50% of the time thing...
I think this holds true for so many businesses. I think you can apply the 20/80 rule here as well; the last 20% of the work requires 80% of the effort. I was personally quite impressed with how fast Haikelite implemented the changes into their design. This was actually a point of concern; I hope they donāt rush thingsā¦ Simple things like the button plate that was recently manufactured; is the light still waterproof? It probably is, but you know, this kind of stuff is in the back of my mindā¦
Just got word! Sample should be shipping this weekend for the review. The delay sounds like it was getting the flat finish anodizing done well - not too flat so won't mark up as easy.
Yes - this light in this thread, the thrower - actually the model name is MT07, while the flooder is the MT03, both shown/listed here: http://haikelite.top/index.php/products.html. Dunno why, but the OP is not updated to show the new model name.
6000 lumens sounds awfully optimistic. Iāll be disappointed if they canāt meet their own claim, and even more so if it canāt match a stock Convoy L6. That said, I just need it to light up the dumpsters from the bay door of the shop. A mildly modded 6x XML SRK can almost do it.
Thanks for catching that update. Hopefully itāll do an honest 5000 lumens. Thatās still damn good, and 140 kcd is damn good too if itāll really do it. Am I actually their first buyer? Btw, I got the NW version. The spec game is risky, and so is the reliability. Hopefully I donāt end up regretting this decision.
I would be interested in XHP-35 HI for throw as well. But only if the light is fully constant-current regulated (no step-downs) and has the two switches for mode memory.
I really like the looks of this light. Looks promising!
Yep, I ordered through their website. Full price. I didnāt even try for a reviewer discount because I know I wonāt find time to do a review. I tried ordering it earlier, but Haikelight didnāt respond to my pm, which is annoying since they asked for inquiries via pm didnāt they?
