Clear anodized Convoy S2+ (switch poll closed) now just discussion

I like the simple silicon boot better: it feels better, looks better, you can use dimmer leds if a lighted tailcap is made (messes less with the driver), and it is more waterproof.

I understand your thinking. I don’t agree on the looks part but I respect your opinion. I do like the light up tailcaps and while I understand they shine brighter and are more beacon-worthy with a translucent switch boot I love the way the subtle glow looks in the SS switch even though I know it’s less efficient. Honestly I’m completely torn on this issue. I really like the clear switch boot as shown in the clear sample. That said, only 25% voted for the rubber boot. The stainless switch is unique in a field where too many lights look alike. That’s another reason I pushed for the black stainless switch. It’s unique.

Hello all,

I hope I have posted in the correct area, but may I ask if Convoy has decided on a switch style for the clear S2+ yet?

If not, I would like to say I prefer the rubber style switch boot. The design is overall simpler and proven, and one can change the boot colours easily and cheaply if they like

I’m a very big fan of Shenzhen Convoy Electronics Co, own many of your lights and given many as gifts. Will be sure to buy a couple of these clear S2+ when they come out. (regardless of which style switch Convoy release and hoping for the clear shorty 18350 tube too)

Thanks for what you are doing for the community Simon.

Best regards,

Michael

OMG

I’ve been waiting for 2 months for the clear anodize which I spoke to Simon a long time ago . .

Will get 5+ if this release

Welcome to BLF, eggmang! And with a nice message too.

(interesting: how come your post count is 0, while you clearly posted something? )

Posts in polls do not count towards post count.

Thank you djozz,

I enjoy reading the articles from the community here. Was a collector of Maglite and hi current Ni-Cd cells many years ago and have started collecting lights again. I also collected many Fenix lights and AA eneloops but once I discovered “bang for buck” and customer service of Convoy it meant Fenix collecting ceased.

Clear convoy S2+ with clear rubber switch boot, black clip and 18350 tube would be a cracking light.

Michael

I think the SS button (especially with that ring of light) looks best by far.
I don’t think it’ll mismatch with clear anodization, it’s just a different tinted metal.
Pity there’s no plain SS clip though.
Don’t know what material the black clip is, but maybe strip the black paint off?

In this particular case it should stay with the SS switch. It is what will set it off . Making a black piston switch would be a waist and would diminish the overall look . I have no issue with installing one of Simon’s new black clips on it, as it would balance out the light. Just enough black to set off the flashlight!

Those that care to go with lighted tail cap can still do so if needed. It does look nice lighted.

Standard SS switch
For looks and for quality reasons
Glad you’re asking

Standard stainless switch (same as current S2+)

I respect everyone’s opinion but this poll was started May 1st and ran for 3 weeks before it closed. The results were given to Simon. You can continue to discuss of course but please understand the voting part is over. Simon went with a black steel switch for the first run. His company…his choice. Other switch options may come later. There are still several things to be worked out before the light is released. When I have a confirmed release date I will start a thread for the new light.

Aha! LOL

Well, I’m eagerly awaiting the clear S2+ w/ black piston switch. Simon tells me “there is still some problem with this version”, so I’ll watch this thread for news of a real production run.

I was trying to buy a blue host, and Simon said the only stock he had was clear, to which I replied OK! and then he mentioned the unspecified problem. Such a tease!

Would he sell those piston boots separately?
I prefer the clear stainless steel ones, but would love to put some in various lights.

After read this thread and saw the clear s2+ picture… i’ve made myself 1 last week…

nice

so u strip off the anodize then polish?

that one looks decent! good work

Yes. Stripped off the anodize with some unknown chemical obtained from company workshop
The picture u see above is polished body (with Autosol).

Below here is the picture just after stripping off the anodize (before polish)…

The tail cap is the first try with pure unknown chemical (too strong and also the reason i decided to chrome it though). After mixing with water, i tried on the body and the head again and got amazing results.

Translation:
<BLF> Awesome, what chemical did you use?
<Khuan> I dunno. Whichever one had the most warning labels.
<Khuan> It burned off my eyebrows but I feel amazing.
<Khuan> Hey, look at this shiny thing!
