EDC-Light 3x XHP-35 HI NW (3x 26650/18650)

Yeah sounds very familiar with Ric

Im trying to get one unit of this to see if its really as bright and as good as it seems. For close to 7000lumens ‘on spec’ and xhp35 Hi which gives the best throwing ability in a generous 3x ~40mm est deep smooth reflector, this seems like the true beast over the L6 which is disappointing to me because L6 uses op reflector and xhp70 domed led which severely affects maximum led throw potential. i would prefer a xhp35hi in the L6 with smo but since this EDC real beast already have 3x xhp35hi……this is by far ……the most powerful budget sub100usd led throwing beast indeed atleast on paper. :+1:

Of course it not hard to squeeze 4 xhp35hi with a 4 18650 compact combo which is even better due to 18650x4 runtime and side by side size options but no one made anything like it yet ,sub100 usd. :money_mouth_face:

Hi fatlight,if i were you knowing what i know i wouldnot get this light my 2 friends and i bought the edc wit 3 xhp70’s with a claimed 12000 lumens well all lights arrived doa andRic did not want to warranty rhem so and one of my friends had to send to Vesture_of_blood he found the reflector holes too small and damaged the domes ,splices in wire fasnted by electrical tape and alot of other manufacturing issuesand my other friend sent his light to Dale who found a lot of shoddy workmanship,.Have you thought of the Pallight Boss1 modded with an xhp35 that outthrows the new hailing factory throw king the ThruniniteTM 42 ?Any just a fair warning and apissible ootion ,goodluck in whichever you decide.

Every Day Cargo?

Hi lightjunkie, yea i agree ,the Boss1 is da mega ultimate budget single led thrower to date with its humongous reflector which is very rare and ‘pricy’ to manufacture, xml is a joke in a light of that size, but i was not sure if the circuit can support xhp35hi but you just confirmed it would :+1: . That modded boss1 is da best single led budget thrower to date . Was expecting only a matter of time, palight would automatically pop one as default saving me some time and effort ordering leds separately because i just pooped 2 xml v5 in a trustfire sst90 68mm reflector light and it was impressive for only 30sec each at ~1400lumens but as i order the wrong domed version and destroyed both leds when i tried brute force dedoming in my haste. after waiting almost 2 months for those from fasttech. It was still a nice 30sec wow still. :sunglasses:

Unfortunately i had already placed an order on the supposed better upgraded Edc 3x xhp35hi but it was still not shipped due to china national day holidays. :weary:

Would post more update on future progress here.

Again im not so sure the boss1 can be modded easily into a xhp35 hi with just a emitter swop sinced its 12v rated and the circuit is powered by 4x series 3.7v .would google to find out more about this. The driver compatibility is my main uncertainty since its a huge circuit board not easily available and tweed-ling with resistor mods is not my forte. Thats whats holding me back from getting and modding the boss1. Any links on such mods would be :+1: Tq.

I hopr it works out for you, maybe Ric has got his stuff together and gou can try vesture_of_blood@hotmail.com who is also Matthew from adveture sport flashlights he could proba ly do a supee job of modding it for you

Update, its taking too long for the order to be fulfilled due to the holidays so i cancelled it.

Oh well so disappointed ,so i modded a xhp35hi onto the trustfire sst90 light to test and xhp35 works with the driver so i guess some existing 3 cell light drivers can provide enough voltage to drive the 12v xhp35. The result is much lower temperature , ultra tight beam with about the same light output. Xhp35 hi is da new ultra efficient low current ,cooler running long throw led king. :+1:

Sounds amazing. What is the Trustfire light exactly?

Hi, its the same light as the ultrafire T90/sst90 . On its stock driver the xhp35hi does not make T90 hot so i put it on direct drive and its now mildly warm and even brighter now. Compared to a sst50, the xhp35hi tint is high cri which makes it much clearer at a distance due to its tint and also much brighter with a narrow beam due to its tiny footprint and also the 12v low current runs cooler. i got the current draw from the tailcap on the stock driver at 0.65a and, direct drive at 0.5a so im not sure why its hotter when direct driven even though there is less current. :open_mouth: . Perhaps the voltage is different and also the efficiency losses due to the not perfectly compatible driver waste substantial energy……i shall not digress too much from the topic.

Back to the xhp35hi, so far theres nothing thats throws like a xhp35hi so its the ultimate option for throw, with a large reflector 68/72mm up, the beam is practically straight and very visible.

i got so excited by the new led that my interest in this edc 3x xhp35hi 95mm head Edc-light is renewed and reordered it. Cant imagine close to 7000lumens of mega throw could do vs tm16gt/fenix tk75 which all need bigger reflectors with 4x xhp35 to be the new beastly output throwers. :+1:

Will post latest update again…….

Is that Trustfire X6 that you are using? Glad to know that you have a great thrower like that. Any chance to measure the lux reading?

Maybe you can ask Ric and order just the host of the EDC-light, and build your own insane light lol.

Yea, its the x6 but its oem without logo. i had modified it plenty of times with sst50 dedomed and it throws like crazy for a long time till the new xpl hi came and redefined throw and efficiency for this light. The x6 with xhp35hi direct drive throws as far and visually as least as bright as old sst50 dedomed on it but last like 5x longer , gradual dimming without getting anywhere hot. unfortunately , i dont have budget for a lux meter . i Just bought like 9 new lights to update my aging arsenal sinced i joined Blf months ago. :person_facepalming:

I got the palight boss1 , courui d01, d07 and Edc xhp35hi on order and maybe could do some beam shots for comparison between these throwers . :+1:

Great, and you make me feel like want to build one XHP-35 HI thrower as well! But the limitation is there is no any high current driver for sale for XHP-35 HI emitter, at least none that I’m aware of.

Well. after trying to order from my source, i still cant get this light in reasonable time so i cancelled it again and was unable to provide comparison beamshots.

On the other hand , courui 01, boss1 arrived and i was able to compare trustfire x6 XHP35 hi on direct drive.
Courui 01 68mm reflector head with xml2 is very close to X6 XHP35hi on direct drive 72mm reflector .
Boss 1 with 90mm reflector is the best thrower. the xml2 inside is almost turning blue on high. Attempt to mod it with xplV5 and xpl Hi all resulted in rapidly turning blue light due to ‘too high current’ on high mode.more discussion on this in the boss1 thread . :+1:

How many hear bought this and are satisfied with it? It looks amazing.

Did you order directly from Ric (Fancyflashlight)?

No, i tired to get it from a china reseller but apparently it was too long a wait. Close to 3weeks , nothing.

Nevermind, save up for this time (and maybe some other times as well), buy the TN40 or TN42 and be happy for the rest of your life.

Anyone know were you can get the driver and XHP35 HI NW leds from that this EDC light uses?

I have what looks to be the same host (Lustefire) with a triple XM-L setup in. And I’d love to modernise it.

not sure about the driver, but the LEDs are a lot of places. I just ordered some from kaidomain
