yes
anyone with the light in hand, in the sealed package, can press the buttons without unsealing the packaging, put it in lockout, and confirm that there is No red flash if the buttons are touched while in lockout.
as you may have read, the updated versions are shipping in modified packaging, with an opening cut in the packaging that allows the dealer to recharge the lights without opening the package… see more info here
I do not know if this opening in the package is also how the lockout drain got fixed, by reprogramming through the USB port.
Since you are trying to get info whether the ones ready to ship are version 2, besides the no red flash test, you could ask if there is a hole in the packaging, where the USB port is.
the bottom line is, WE are the only reliable source of info. I put zero faith in what call center people say. Once people here start buying the new Tips, expect to see reports cofirming that on lockout the version2 Tip No longer flashes red when buttons are touched…
disclaimer, Im just a guy at a computer, who has too much time on his hands, repeating info posted in various Tip threads, that I believe is credible.
Also, imo the 5000k Tip 240, is probably the most versatile option for people who want High CRI without the warm color of the original 220 Tip…
Im not aware of anyone who has recently received a 220 Tip, of the LED being 3500k, Nitecore seems to be using 220 packaging and 240 packaging interchangeably, but the lights being shipped all seem to be 240 5000k versions
seek confirmation of anything I say here, I have no inside knowledge nor relationship with any lightmakers
ps
News Flash, the Tip uses PWM
