HaikeLite Preview for MINI Triple-XHP70 prototypes--Discussion thread

Wowowowow….what? No threads? How does it exert pressure to the rubber button? Just press the metal ring downwards and that’s it?

Edit:

I don’t get it… I mean this looks like the reason air can escape easily from the inside… And I seriously question water proofing now…

Different expansion rates would help it pop out.

Correct. Aluminium has much higher thermal expansion than steel. Meaning, if the light gets hot, the ring’s normal force with the body reduces as well…

Got mine yesterday. This thing does put out some light! In a living room I pointed it at the corner of the ceiling and, in turbo, it bounced off all walls and clock and pictures…and hit both of us in the eye. Don’t use turbo in the house! Serious amount of light. Very nice neutral version. Outside massive flood. I did compare to the Buffalo BT07 which has serious throw for an XHP70 plus the normal amount of spill. Different topic but the MT03 is again a serious flood. It is well built. I used 4 X 18650GA 3500s.

Heh, yeah, I just showed it to my dad. He thought it was already on turbo even though it was on high, a bit of clicking and holding and BOOM, he was startled and burst out laughing.

Have you physically locked your light by screwing open the head? I’ve done it a couple of times and suddenly the thing didn’t work anymore. The driver retaining ring had come loose from all the head opening.

Typical guy thing. Couple of weeks ago I was in the woods after midnight with my lights. Cop car showed up (in the woods). Of course I had to explain what I was doing. I showed them my lights. Cop asked politely if he could play with it a bit. No problem. I gave him my Meteor M43. Told him “just press and hold the button”. He did so, and there was a wall of light in front of him. Cop was giddy as a little kid

No I haven’t used lockout yet. I am checking without lockout and carry it along on the road. Waiting for night again…lol

How many lumens do you think it is? Mine hit over 10k lumens if my ceiling bounce is set up right. But I could be way of.

These are the best moments

Havent’ tried sphere yet but according to ceiling bounce I get pretty much spot on 10k at 30 seconds.

Test sample has no glue on the retaining ring considering you want to test the inside.

The retaining ring of Stock MT03s are all glued tight. So it can not be pop out even with pressure.

It is sad that they will be glued. Glue on anything really hurts the moddability of the light.

So looking at the latest posts, how does the fan vent to atmosphere? I take it there are no always-open vents, due to the waterproofing??

yes.glued rings by default. However,if you wanna do modder to this light, you can contact us to send unglued version.

I don’t know any other manufacturer that would be that flexible.

What’s about repairing if the switch gets faulty? You should consider using threads in the next batch.

The quality of the switch is very stable. We have 2 year’s warranty.

Thanks for your suggestion. We got it

Warranty’s are nice, but they aren’t that valuable if you have to send your light halfway around the world and pay half of what you paid for the light just to get it there. Then wait a couple of months without the light while it’s being shipped and repaired.

The press/glue fit of the side switch is reminicent of some zerbalight bezels, they have frequent waterproofing failures with those as has been discussed on CPF.

I actually very much like the idea of a over pressure failsafe even if it wasn’t by design :+1: granted it doesn’t pop out with regular use but only in case of battery venting.

you’re right.

I had the super old model H600 and it got water issues.
