New Olight S10RIII

Just saw that new model, and noted a new LED supplier : Luminus

I wonder what the point of this model is? Do you think it will be a lot cheaper then the S1R? You have heaps of Olight flashlights do you think they need that many model that are kind of the same?

S10R is a reflector’ed light, so the beam is quite a bit different from the S1R with its optic. Plus its bigger, and for some folks that a good thing. Its also been around longer too, so its kind of a “legacy” item at this point. I agree there’s some overlap here with the S1R, but I think there’s enough differences for each light to have its own audience.

I was thinking that with the S1/S1R they will stop their reflector-based models…
But hey have some throw, which the TIR S1/S2 don’t have.
The S10RII was base on an XP-L so it has a bit of throw, nothing to compare with the S1.

The S30RIII is reflector-based too, and has the same advantage comparing to the S2 : traditional beam with a hotspot, in a compact body.

EDIT : from the Olight store, the S10RIII will be 60$ and the S1R is 65$

Thanks mate i only own the S1R so i do not know the differences. Like i could see the difference between these and the S mini. Some times it feel like Olight is competing with them selves not many companies do this.

They have a huge amount of different model, that’s for sure !
But the UI is consistant so you’re never lost when using them.
They have launched quite a few models recently, between the S-mini, S1A, S2A, S1R, S2R, R50, R50 PRo, S10RIII, S30RIII, X7, H1… but they make sure that the customer will find exactly what he needs I think.
If you like the Olight line, including CW tint (yeah I don’t like it) and UI (yeah, I like it), you’ll find the right shape/battery/compactness that you need.
The choice of proprietary batteries, however, is not in my taste :frowning:

Must have missed the SST-40, or it is a brand new led. I looked it up and it has the XM-L footprint, and similar die size, similar output (better?), low Vf, low thermal resistance, promising. Where can I buy one for testing?

XM-L2 with low Vf :open_mouth:

Well it seems like a fresh breed, nov.2016, and they claim 1200 lumens at 3amps and 85 dec C ?
Well thats new…
