Put me on the list!

And I thnk the list is updated (was lmost 300 posts behind, so please let me know in ase of issues, speaking of:

Ae you sure ths is not supposed to be posted in the Q8 thread?

And now time for some updates with the looks at the 5ar renders!

OP updated with two render pics

post 4 updated with a few renders of 5ar and the design of Jerommel so it is changed into:

That is a HUGE light!

Starting to think we need a manufacturer or distributing partner able to ship as local as possible (via local Amazon for example) with this size and weight…

A few more render shots for people to swoon over. I love the shape it is taking on!

5AR really does great work! the overall shape of the light looks good to me, Just a matter of the details.

Well, it isn’t common any more, but it has been done in the past with GB’s that the organizer would receive payments and ship products. In this case, maybe you could organize a team to collect and redistribute the lights within certain “local” regions. I don’t know if that’s feasible or not.

It is indeed a large light, no doubt about it. Although really not that much larger then a lot of HID lights.

Shorty tube ? I’d be interested….

Awesome! Just awesome!

Great job guys! 5AR you really know how to work with 3d design programs.

To be clear, is it just a design or is it the final design that is being send to a potential manufacturer?

Imo this design is perfect!

Although an HID this size would have much higher output and throw…

Very nice design and size. 6 batteries are way too much, it would be perfect if it can run with 2/4/6 with this same setup.

Tentatively interested pending final specs.

David, no that would be not wise and a lot of troubles we just need to find the proper way
to gt them in eople hands, but we are a long way from that

8 cells maximum, the tube is based on the Q8 design and size, it is very had to comprehend the size of the Q8, just grab a light with a big head, measure it and then put a DVD or CD on top of the head.
A DVD/CD is 12cm diameter, so you have to think a bezel, adding another 1 cm to that.
If you have 1 or 2 SRKs, just hold that tube (or tubes) with the CD/DVD above it to get some sort of real life idea.

These cell carriers should give a lot of options in cell use with a little modding (lol thinking 8P XPL hi Narsil Q8 driver for extreme long runtimes or 4S2P XHP35hi for a nice marker beam or 2S4P for a nice tinted XHP70)

God yes please, that’s huge, hopefully a short tube so we can run it with 1 carrier and 4 cells, PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE!!!

+2

Yeah shouldn’t be that hard to make a double section tube. 1 section per battery holder so you can use 4 or 8, or even 12+ by just adding sections of tube.

We can do single carrier tube easily. The issue is balance. The light will be very head heavy and one thing I have learned is that a well balanced heavier item will feel lighter then a badly balanced lighter item.

This is due to a badly balanced item taking more muscles to hold instead of resting on the joints in a neutral state.

If people insist on a short tube even though the balance point will most likely be well above the hand and cause a lot of arm strain when holding it for long periods, that can be done.

If the TN42 with it’s much smaller head has the balance point at/slightly above the switch, just imagine where the center of gravity will be on this light with it’s much larger head.

Couldn’t be possible something like the Convoy L2 two tubes?

Possible yes but not nearly as simple. You could not simply remove or add a tube at will. You would have tom completely change the cell setup in the carriers as well.

Basically for modders they could just as easily only fill a single cell carrier and leave the other empty if weight is an issue. By placing the full one at the back of the tube it should balance the light pretty well.

This light is going to be big no matter how you slice it, the only real goal is making it as balance and usable as possible.
