I must have a couple of dozens of flashlights for various battery types (mainly 18650-14500-AAA), but usually I prefer to buy AA/14500 FLs, because I find it very practical to be able to use it with an AA battery if my 14500s run out of juice.
What about you?
Do you choose your FLs according to the battery size they use?

Super Duperā¦ viva Tesla!
I like many sizes, my favourites are: 26650, 18650, 10180, AA, AAA
Really depends on what light and itās going to be used for.
Single cell lights for non edc stuff I prefer 26650 feel better In the hand than the smaller 18650 lights.
But for edc stuff are the smaller 18650 lights better, or even the smaller 14500 and 10180.
This one
Depends on type of light. Multi quality 18650 cells from reputable manufacturers like Sanyo and Samsung for raw power. Single 26650 for compact power light. AA and AAA for small EDC lights.
Well, it's normal to prefer a batttery size according to the flashlight and it's use. If you want/need a flashlight monster, you can't go with 14500s!
If I could explain better the meaning of the poll (as I was thinking of it), it would be somehow like that:
Aha. In that case most definitely AA. Iām happy with simple Eneloop, and Iāll sacrifice output obtained with li-ion.
With just one option the 14500/AA it would be the perfect fit between aaa and 18650 IMHO. Good fit in hand, pocket, and run time.
My thoughts are the same.
With 14500/AA:
AA and 18650 for me.
AA for practical reasons(can use rechargeable NiMhās, alkalineās as well as 14500) as well as small size for EDC, 18650 for power and for winter EDC due to bigger size-weight combo.
To put it shortly:
Summer - AA.
Winter - 18650.
When I choose to use a light itās likely to be 18650 powered. But my most used light is the 10180 on my keychain. Thereās no way to choose just one

I had to go with āotherā. I like AA, AAA, 18650, & 26650ā¦ just depends on the light.
18650 FTW!
small 18650 lights rule ā¦. thenā¦ AA/14500 lightsā¦.AAA 16340/18500/18350ā¦
18650 is multipurpose u can find dqg small and short 18650 flashlightā¦.or just but 2 or 3 of it in series or palallel host to power EVERY LEDā¦
and u can always find it on old laptops,on old battery drills, on an accidented tesla, on electrick bike, on power banks.
there is no need to use 26650 and ruin the standardā¦ā¦18650 is a standard and MUST REMAIN SOā¦.
Wellā¦ itās a bit difficult to find āan accidented teslaā in my country, but itās easy to find AA/AAA batteries everywhere.
AAA lights are tiny
18650 lights are powerful
beyond certain limits, you cannot have both
