Micro-Textured Lens for Solarforce Flashlights

Adding a few more

2x 12mm (aaa lights)
1x 15.5mm (thrunite T10t)
2x 15.9mm (pineapple)
2x 17.5mm (firefly)

I have sent a PM to members who were interested in the custom sizes of the MT lens… if you are interested and didn’t receive a PM, contact me.
Payment deadline is Wednesday. After this, the MT lens will only be available pre-installed in one of my flashlights (no custom sizes).

Order placed and pp sent. Thanks for doing this Randy! I know this sort of custom order stuff is time consuming and probably not very profitable. We definitely appreciate it!

No pm here.

I probably hit ‘preview’ instead of ‘save’… you should have it now.

If anyone needs more time to measure the lenses you want, just let me know. The order doesn’t have to be placed on Thursday… I can do it later if needed.

Order placed for 1 each of the following:
15.89mm
19mm
P60

Payment sent.
Thanks Matt

Got my order in for 2x Convoy C8 lenses. Thanks again Randy! :)

I just got my lenses. Put one over top of a ReyLight Pineapple (a 20mm one). There is a very slight improvement but nothing substantial. I’m thinking I shouldn’t have ordered so many expecting miracles.

I think the amount of diffusion from the lens is determined by it’s distance from the emitter (distance from the emitter to the reflector then to the lens).

When I put the MT lens into an S2 with a smooth reflector, I don’t think there is as much improvement as when I install them in a p60 or C8. I really don’t have a way to measure the improvement to the beam.

My goal for the MT lens is to noticeably improve the beam pattern without affecting the throw. I also think too much diffusion would be worse than too little diffusion.

I should have all of the custom sizes in tomorrow and I will get them mailed out on Friday.

Your goal is correct. My intention was to clean up the beam on somewhat poorly designed op reflectors. While there might be a slight improvement, it’s barely notifiable in my intended application. My first lenses just arrived after I ordered a bunch of customs. Oh well. Seems like a nice high performance lens. Just doesn’t fix what I was hoping. I’m assuming these are polymer? What kind? How durable? Scratch resistance?

I read a bit more about your lens material. Impressive stuff!

Got my Pineapple lens in today so I thought I’d do a quick comparison. Hope it helps.

First, a beamshot with the original lens:

And one with the microtexture:

May be hard to tell the difference between them like this, so here’s a gif’ified comparison:

Photos never tell the whole story on something like this, and honestly I didn’t exactly put a lot of effort into keeping all other factors equal between shots, so consider these photos just as a simple representation of the results. They don’t tell the whole story.

In short, I’m happy with the results. Its not a miracle problem-solver, there’s still some of that worst ring left, but overall much of the smaller irregularities are gone and the beam is quite a bit smoother all around, with no noticeable reduction in output. Nice!

I received my lenses today and I am 100% happy with the results. In my P60 hosts, they made the spot and spill more uniform, even on OP reflectors, and allowed measurably more light out the front.
Thank you.

Just dropped one of these lenses in my Olight S10R Baton III with the SST-40. It had a horrible center artifact due to the LED and reflector design… It is now gone!!!

Fine lenses for sure.
Wish I’d ordered more now.

After adjusting my expectations, I’m pretty pleased.

So this one is very clear, seems to affect tint less, and does some subtle beam improvement. It also looks cool and is tougher.

Good stuff. I’m using it in 4 different lights.

A 1mm thick option would be helpful though.

They are not miracle workers, but they make a very good difference in a light. I slapped one in my Olight S10R Baton III, wish I had more that size!

Sorry if this is a question that has already been answered, but which side of the MT lens is the smudge-resistant side?
