Review : Utorch UT02 Flashlight (XHP35 / 26650 / usb rechargeable)(in progress)

Sense resistor is same value , and Gearbest confirmed that the light should perform better.

They are currently looking into it , and there could be only these 3 lights defective.

Is it advisable for low price but low current or necessary to wait a solution

Well…I just got mine last night. As I said before, I don’t know how to take such measurements (only have a decent multimeter, no clamp etc) but I can say my copy is not performing to the level of my Manker U21. Side by side with the same battery, the Utorch is not as strong on turbo as the Manker. They’re both decent at about 200 yards, but the Manker will throw significantly past that. The Utorch doesn’t have much left after that distance.

Think I should contact GearBest too or just wait to see what you hear back?

I would be satisfied with (2) New Improved driver’s and (2) new clean reflectors! The lens should clean up, I hope, with out scratching? I can swap them out, they were meant to be presents by the way! Good thing I bought a few extra Nitercore MH20 and MH20GT’s!!! :+1:

Is a bit is dust on the reflector that uncommon that it is concidered quality control issue? Half the lights I buy have some sort of something in the reflector. I just thought it was normal and just usually blow it away with an indirect blast if compressed air.

Let’s see maybe it’s common for lower end budget lights, but if your in the Game to make mid and upper end lights then NO! I can deal with a spec or two, not this, but then I guess it all depends on what you want to settle for, low performing not to spec, filthy reflector blow it out and it remains, dirty glass lens, you clean it, and then it leaves scratches in the AR coating, naw not me!

Ya. I understand.

My one got 4 amps at tail cap with normal multimeter leads. So it’s running normal power.

Update: I can not get higher then this reading. Some thing weird is going on. I think the driver may have a weak component?

Just checking…… Do you mean a Utorch or Manker?

Lol Utorch

Got three of them, 2.47a, 2.34a and 2.8a at the battery. The 2.8a one is CW other two are NW. I'm not sure if that helps.

Looking like edsg’s is the exception rather than the rule.

I was going to buy one and have a friend test it, give me a perspective from a new user point of view, but if it’s going to be problematic I’m not sure if I should proceed or hold on and see what shakes…

When i have news from gearbest I’ll write here …

In other news its still over 1000 lumens easy? Its as brighter then my EE X6 with a XPLHI running direct drive that light is a 3000k tint but its running at 5.5+ amps. It is way brighter then a stock L2. My Utorch is the NW tint.

That’s COOL! :+1: Lucky I have a stash of great lights new in the box, Nitecore’s for my two friends that I thought I was getting a deal on for them for. I pretty much given up on the little boosted XHP35 lights, after the Manker and the BTU PK26 POS! I have (2) TN42’s one is modded, with a de-domed XHP35 E4 1C running a Linear driver at 3.01 amps, the other bone stock and (3) T90-2 SD75 and a Jax X6 big reflector XHP35 lights at 2.81-3.0 amps so little lights don’t impress me! But these were meant as gifts. As it stands, it’s in Gearbest court waiting for their reply, but it is tempting to take one of these apart and play with it!! Oh so tempting!!!

Yea it’s a hard choice the power we are seeing and the kcd is still more then achievable from a single die emitter. Even just a xplhi running at the same amperage will out perform this set up.

But it’s some thing different. It’s not a setup every one has. I have a spare xhp35 single cell driver here.

I want to de-dome a XP-L W2 and try it out in one of these little thrower’s and a dome on in the other, should be quite the little pocket (Jacket pocket ) thrower. So I’ll wait, but in the meantime I’m keeping myself busy with a TK61 XHP35 HI E4 1C build, match it up against my TK61V4vn, just for something to do!

Got mine today. But they sent CW instead of NW. Oh well. Pretty nice little torch.

Please someone with a fresh battery can offer the values at 3 meters with luxmeter?
Tanks.

On a Manker U21 for LJ (Light Junkie) with tail clamp meter got 5.93A, 1,780 lumens, and 253 kcd measured at 5m. This is using a dedomed XPL W2 1A from the AliExpress source, but not trusting it's a true W2 bin. But it did perform slightly better than my U21 modded the same way with a dedomed XPL V6 0D (~1,1710 lumens, 240 kcd).

I think these #'s are not bad for the reflector diameter, smaller than an HD2010 size, bigger than a C8.
