Clear anodized Convoy S2+ (switch poll closed) now just discussion

After read this thread and saw the clear s2+ pictureā€¦ iā€™ve made myself 1 last weekā€¦

nice

so u strip off the anodize then polish?

that one looks decent! good work

Yes. Stripped off the anodize with some unknown chemical obtained from company workshop
The picture u see above is polished body (with Autosol).

Below here is the picture just after stripping off the anodize (before polish)ā€¦

The tail cap is the first try with pure unknown chemical (too strong and also the reason i decided to chrome it though). After mixing with water, i tried on the body and the head again and got amazing results.

Translation:
<BLF> Awesome, what chemical did you use?
<Khuan> I dunno. Whichever one had the most warning labels.
<Khuan> It burned off my eyebrows but I feel amazing.
<Khuan> Hey, look at this shiny thing!

No problem with me , go against the majority and see how it sells, not to me ,I do not want it ! :frowning:

The reason the black steel switches are holding this up is the finish is not as durable as intended. The black may wear off over time and Simon doesnā€™t want to sell the clear S2+ with a sub-standard switch. They would probably appeal to some anyway so there is a possibility the black steel switch cover assembly may be sold separately at a discounted price. This is not a promise, just a possibility. I will post here when I have confirmation.

Iā€™d be really interested in a black steel switch(together with a black S2+)

I wonder if there is any update on the ā€˜clearā€™ S2+ production yet.

It is sad that the delay relates to the black finish on the metal push-button switch - The S2+ example pictured on page 1 of this thread which features the clear rubber switch boot looks awesome!

Really looking forward to this model coming out. Clear anodizing is nicest looking S2+ finish (in my opinion) and of course I will be sure to purchase a few.

Holy this is beautifulā€¦ where can I find one!

I need some some tailcap with stainless steel switch. Doesnā€™t need switch PCB or spring just the things to convert my rubber switched S2+, S3 and Jaxman E2L to stainless. And of course I want clear inner rubber boot to add lightet tailcap board. J-dub can you ask Simon if he can sell some ? I donā€™t mind the color because I want to strip and polish the whole lights to bare aluminum. Or anybody has some for sale?

I doubt there will be boot type conversion kits because the tailcap is machined differently.

The black metal switch looks a bit weird on a silver host unless you also add a black clip or something to match. Itā€™s kinda nice with the matching clip though.

As for lighting a metal switch, it doesnā€™t really work very well. It uses more power and is barely visible, so it would make a lot more sense to go with a lighted clear rubber boot or an unlighted metal switch. The tail light requires some driver changes too, which further complicates matters.

d) Ti button like the massdrop lumintop brass tool. It shouldnā€™t be too difficult to incorporate a membrane to seal the button. The color would be a better match than stainless.

I know the tailcap is different and the stainless one is threaded. And I know how to build lighted tailcaps. I have some :innocent:

I donā€™t need a lot light from stainless. Just to be visible at night next to my bed. That is why I search for whole tailcap without electronic components.

Same for me. Plain stainless please. In for 1-2 hosts.

There is a run of clear S2+ coming with the standard stainless switch pretty soon. No exact date yet. Iā€™ll post more when I know more.

Nice that must look awesome!

Looking forward to it! Clean anodized is my favorite finish, I wish more lights were available that way

Will it come with the new Biscotti?
