Cree XHP50.2

Will it still display the donut hole?

Oh boy! I just hit 1000 posts. :person_facepalming:
Not quite ready for a giveaway, but I will get around to it eventually:)

With the rough phosfor, it may have a less clear cross in between the leds, so who knows the donut hole will be less pronounced

Hmm, I guess that just leaves the XHP70 to be updated then.

I kinda feel that either you go with the larger more powerful XHP70, or the smaller XHP35 or XPL. XHP50 doesn’t seem too popular…

For New Thrower!!!
XHP50.2 Hi
XHP70.2 Hi

Which is weird, because it can be used to upgrade an XML2 light with the 5*5mm dimensions…
Just find a way to push 6V through it, and you’re good.
BTW I’ve still to find a good high CRI XHP50 in the 4000Kish

I would definitely like something with even more lumens than an XHP70
The CBT140 from luminus is too inefficient.

No doubt it’s discussed somewhere, but I want to see HI versions of XHP70 and 50.

I’m not sure how well a dome-less emitter goes together with the new type of rough phosfor, you may not have the same die luminance (=throw) upgrade that the XP-L Hi has over the XP-L.

looks like the phosphor is a continuous blanket completely covering the quad die. I would expect no black cross, but probably back to the evil tint shift we had just started to get away from.

I more expect the same as the Nichia 144A, with the cross reduced, and yellow:

Mount it on a gun: you have illumination AND a crosshair.

hmm good pic Djozz, guess I’ll have to wait and see.

It seems the all of the 5050 footprint LEDs have gone out of fashion.

Made me chuckle

Edit: Maybe they come with windage and elevation adjustments?

Not quite, there is the new Luminus SST-40, essentially a clone of the XM-L2.

Interesting datasheet, anyone tried them out or seen them for sale?

This looks interesting… I hope they are not only optimized for optics use.

The new Olight s10R III uses it, efficiency is about the same or maybe a tad higher than the XM-L2 judging by the amp draw but there is massive tint shift betweeen hotspot and spill. (Very cool tint at the edge)

Use tintshift for elevation adjustment.
