Active again: Nichia 219CT 4000K R9050 high CRI LED (and some trits)

Technically it will do. Below is a test from DB Custom.

Received the eight leds; tint is very very nice, not yelowish, uniform throughout the light beam, not warm, not cold, perfect tint for me. Thaks Rei,

Thank you.

Got mine as well - haven’t put them in a light yet but love this one in the Pineapple; Thanks Rey

Hi Rey,
How are you on LED’s, drivers ?
Also I know you won’t recall but on the other thread I raised some questions regarding rings in the reflector beam shot and sent you a pic of what I was talking about and you thought it was brass reflections?
Well just read your update on the OP about the reflectors.
Can I place an order if LED and all are still available and request 2 reflectors for my lights? All one shipment maybe?
I knew it was that reflector, I wet sanded one and improved it a lot but doesn’t look quit like you perfect beam shot.
Thanks Rey

Rey,

Got mine in a few weeks back, and with some help from RMM at Mountain Electronics, I now have 12 of these in a M43 Noctigon Meteor!!

As others have said, the tint is beautiful and even, the high CRI makes the 5500+ lumen flood fantastic with colors… Sincerely appreciate your offering of these here!

Any members here that have not tried Nichia emitters or high CRI or 4000K tint range, do yourself a favor and pick up a couple of these. This is a fantastic emitter for $4.

Now that is a light I’m really jealous of! Nice!

Question, something I’m really curious of and you may have the answer with all those leds in one light:
If you set the Meteor very low, you can see all those 219c high CRI leds simultaniously: since these leds are not binned very tight (I guess they are 5-step McAdam), do you see much tint variation at all in reality?

They are awesome in a triple, but they pull 11.55 amps in my triple with a good battery! They get very hot and they get there very quickly. This is the best Nichia tint I have seen yet. I think Rey told me they are D260 SW405 emitters.

I will take more of these… pm inbound!

Interesting you get such low current. I generally get 16-20 amps out of a triple 219C. Are you using thin wires? What driver?

Interested in what you mean by ‘best tint’?
Do these 4000K have more red in tint than other 4000K you’ve used?
Have you also tried Clemence’s 4000K 219C?

I’m trying to find some with the most red in the tint.

Thanks!

Hey Ace, was over 16 to start with in a Ti host… removed bypasses and dropped to 20 gauge to control current and heat! Mountain 17DDm new driver with bistro. 11.5 seems fairly friendly in that light. Do not want to cook it!

They lean to red, but are more of a muted reddish tint. I have maybe 2 dozen lights with various 219’s and this is the best!

Thanks mattlward!
I like the Nichia 4000K and as of now have only experienced the one’s from Illumn, the 219B V1 4000K in D200 bin.
It is a nice tint but I would like to get something that is a little more rosier.

I ordered some 4000K 219C from Clemence, but might have to try some of these out too!

Nichia do vary some, their tint chart can be found and the 405 is not a real tight binning. I think you will like them, the are nice. My original blf a01 has my favorite tint, but I think the reflector plays some part in the tint. I have not been able to duplicate it, very rosey.

Forgot to add, at high drive current the tint is so pure on these unlike Cree

On the lowest level, I can see all LED’s illuminated, so the bin is within spec for a 4ma level (in series IIRC). As the 4000K is available in higher luminance bins, it will be utilized more… I am so impressed with the tint and color that I would do my whole house lighting in this if it were available and I could afford it!

DJOZZ, I will get a bezel off picture posted later…

Yes, sure I can send you two. pls pm me your shipping address.

Here is a picture comparison of my 3000K XPL HI vs the 4000K 219C 9050’s from Rey on the 4ma (lowest) output… The 4000K have very little visible variance to my eye.

3000K on the left in both pics.

Thanks ReManG. No, that looks nice, better than what I would expect from 5-step McAdam leds. Perhaps Nichia has their production so well under control that the majority of leds fall close to the center of tint bin regardless in which category they will be put later.
