Copper P60 Dropin - Quad Nichia

Wow, very neat! Especially knowing you did all of those manually.
Great job, thanks for posting. It was nice to slowly read and watch all those step by step pictures

wow - amazing skills, as expected  this is a mod I’d actually want to try for myself. How exact is the pill, do you have to wrap it for best heat transfer? Or is it actually a 99.99% fit?

Thanks guys. There are two wraps of copper tape around the body for a snug fit.
I didn’t apply any paste yet as i’ll probably be taking out the A6 driver and swapping for something better, hence the soldering job  - it’s only ever pulled 7 amps max but it was all i had to complete.

What is the black stuff I see? And care to share your polishing procedure? Looks beautiful!

That’s a whole lot of work there.

polishing process looks like Nevr Dull?

Black stuff? probably just the polishing paste on newspaper.

I used 600 grit then 1000 grit wet & dry then 0000 wire wool then…

That’s a tall picture…

I think the black stuff asked about was what’s inside the tail of the pill in picture #20 from the top…

Ah, duh - i’m tired now lol. The copper slug was all i had so to fill the rest of the empty space that’s a jb weld and silicone carbide mix. Didn’t catch on because it’s grey…

Yeah i consolodate the pics for less work/ hassle.

You have a lot of patience , great mod!!!

WOW!! thats really impressive. Great work. My hands cramp and fatigue just scrolling through those pics.

Amazing work :sunglasses:

Thanks guys :+1:

Wow, that is a chunk of artwork!

Beautiful work!

Im amaze with your copper pill .

so nice and shiny

That is nice work sir. Truly hand made. I would be proud of that rig! How long did it take to complete once you got going?

Thanks for the comments guys
Hello mate, good to see you again.
I think maybe around 3 hours altogether.
The most difficult part was precision fitting it so the optic presses against the host glass and the aluminium ring presses against the rim inside the head so there is solid contact all round when tightened.

Nice Work!!! Thanks for sharing. You guys that do that are just tough!!! :+1:

Well done, very nice finished light.
