Xiaomi Power Bank 2 10,000mAh Review

If I remember right, the Xiaomi 3x18650 10,000mAh powerbank puts out about 7000mAh+ in real life.
If this has over 95% eff, this puts out some more but OTOH it is more expensive by about 6(?) EUR.

Xiaomi shows in the specs output capacity of 6,250mAh at 5V/1A but in my tests I measured <6,000mAh and <30Wh output. The output voltage is also on the low side which means it won’t compensate cable loses and reduces charge rate for high current drawing devices. The internal cells being LG F1 are rated 3,350mAh but as with all 18650s the actual capacity at realistic discharge rates and LVP cutoff are ~5% lower, 3140mAh tested in the MC3000. So it is actually more like a 9,500mAh total…

I have found the capacity rating in LiPo cells to be more accurate, probably something to do with most of the charge being stored above the nominal voltage.

The original xiaomi 10,000mAh was $11.99 on release but after a high demand (BG alone has sold over 150,000pcs) the price has gone up to $17.99 which is ridiculous as the new version is cheaper, has better performance and comes with QC2.0.

The full review is now up, it has taken me 4 days to complete it (1 cycle per day). My data gathering method is mostly automated, but I have to manually set it up each time.

I will now do a 0.5A discharge test just to see if we can squeeze even hgiher efficiency.

Thanks Will. Ordered a silver version.

Thx for the test… Nice to see capacity increase, but for me the old 10Ah design is much more convenient, the new one looks too long and too wide. Also the price for old one was 10$ on Gearbest and Banggood and this new one is like 50% more… If they added second usb output, i would be tempted to switch, but for now I will stick with the old one (with 3x ncr18650B inside)…

Got mine today in silver from Banggood and it’s authentic. Size compared to the 10400mAh version. I charged it but haven’t checked it out yet. I’m sure it will perform as specified

Can you please link to the one that is authentic? There are a few diffrent to pick from, and the price spred is big….(I never bought anything from banggood yet)

Thank for a great forum, Im new and amazed

Both of mine are authentic. You can check yours here

I haven’t bought one yet….I’m new to Banggood and don’t know how to distinguish the real from the fakes. The fact that it’s out of stock on Xiaomi homepage also disturbs my calm…

Can somebody link to one that they believe is authentic?

What about the pro-version, with usb-c there is one on banggood that states QC3? On Xiaomi’s homepage they state its QC2…or have I missed something?

fake?

Nope not fake, but the Mi Pro model, that sports USB Type-C instead of the model that will34 is reviewing here, which has micro-usb instead. I can pretty much guarantee that if you order yours at BangGood you'll get an authentic one.

Thanks, I feel a lot more confident now

One detail….

Can someone confirm the weight? The old 10000mAh is 207g (according to mi.com) and the new “10000 mAh PRO” model is 238g (according to mi.com). Is this unit heavier at 250g? I think it’s odd that the “PRO” is 31g heavier then old non pro…

As you can read in my own review of this powerbank, that's not correct.

Do you guys not get decent deals on Amazon? Here in the U.K. I can get a top quality Ravpower unit at a lower £/mAh than getting the Xiomi off Banggood.
Admittedly you do get a better value as you go up in capacity but the 13400 Ravpower is close and way better value here.

Quick charging my MotoX Pure at 9 volts

Could you do a review Xiaomi 20000 mah Gen 2, it was just releaved
a pic inside it is better

Not bad at all, does it charge at this same rate with the wall charger?

I contacted BG for a review sample, but they don’t seem to be interested in sending me one.

If the price drops a little I might order one myself and do the tests, the only difference vs the 6x18650 version should be the weight and improved performance. Size, build quality and ports are exactly the same. I wish it came in other colors as well, the white finish doesn’t look too pretty after some regular use.

Maybe I should contact them again? I don’t want to look like I’m repeatedly bothering them to receive free stuff which I don’t really need other than for reviewing.

I asked my guy @BG for a sample, maybe they'll send me one :)

I never used the included charger that came with my phone. I’ve been charging it with a 40 watt 5 volt 5 port Anker charger from the beginning. I’ll break out the original and see how that does tomorrow. This new Xiaomi kicks ass. I’m very happy.

It does charge @9V in my testing :

Check around the 2:52 mark. Charger in case was a Tronsmart Titan.

Dodge, thanks for the review
