16340 / 18350 With Side Switch / Reasonable Throw

Has any body any suggestions for a 16340 / 18350 with a reasonable amount of throw and preferably side switch …. it’ll mainly be for outside use and dog walking and like to be able to see ahead in the distance when necessary .

I was thinking about a ZL 32w or Olight S1 but I get the impression they’re both more flood than throw so if anyone has some alternative suggestions would be appreciated.

Have you looked at the SR71, pure flood but brute forces throw with a triple. The Olight reflectored lights are pretty decent, the TIR lights do not throw.

Nitecore EC11!
Not a thrower, but overall an impressive torch for its size. And it’s sideswitch operated. I love the little fellow…

JETBeam EC-R16
NITEYE EC-R16
NITEYE MS-R15

I had looked at the EC11 which I thought was a great looking torch / size etc, the only thing that stopped me hitting the buy button is again I thought it’d be more flood than throw and it’s quite an expensive mistake if it’s not what I’m looking for!!!

Had also looked at the JETBeam / NITEYE EC-R16 but again wasn’t sure how much throw they’d have and compared them to the Jetbeam II Pro which uses the XP-L HI.
I would have thought the latter would have more throw than EC-R16 because of the HI led although it has a lower quoted cd (4500 vs 5700) … maybe it’s just because the EC-R16 has the higher output at 750 rather than 510 lumens

Wouldn’t it be great if there was a store you could go into with a massive great big darkened warehouse and could take 1/2 doz in with you to try against each other and see which best suits your usage.

Still interested in any other suggestions people may have, or if anyone has experience of the ones mentioned and if they are more throw than flood?

You can try to use this sourse: http://fonarevka.ru/
Im not sure that you will find there mentioned light but it is better than nothing.

The most throw of all my “small” lights has the Manker T01. By far!! But it’s powered by a 14500…

Eagletac tx25c.
Probably the most throw, and very expensive.

Have looked at these before and have only heard good reports on them but would probably want the XM-L HI which doesn’t seem to be available anywhere in the UK.
The Manker T01 is also smaller both in head size and length so would probably go that route instead if I can’t find a 18350 that ticks all the boxes …. cheers for all the suggestions so far!!!

Take a look at the Jetbeam JET-II Pro. 16340, side switch, and an XP-L Hi out throws many similar sized lights. Very tiny light, slightly larger than the S1 Baton, and looks absolutely fantastic.

Would be my EDC light were it not for my custom Convoy S2+

Rofis tr10 is another good one

As I had some money left over from Xmas returns I ordered both the JETBeam / Niteye EC16 - R16 and The Manker T01 II last night … that said with my addiction for these things especially in the smaller sizes I’m 90% sure I’ll order one of the Jet-II Pro’s at some stage in the not too distant future as well …. are they just 16340 or can they take 18350’s as well

A big thank you to everyone for their input as well … was very useful and much appreciated :+1:

How much throw do you really need? Makes a difference on the answer. How about:

Or, my personal choice, the On The Road M3. Though not a dedicated thrower it lets me see a goodly long ways at night and at half the price of the Olight S1 equivalent.

Naturally because of the smaller reflector all 16340 flashlight will be more flood heavy. Also depends on what you call throw? 150 meters?
