Wow this loo\ks familiar @MF

Looks nice, and really Modable with a led Star easy to replace, and the driver might also be easy to change.

It is a pity it does not accept 14500 as is.

The design is a bit like a mix of two, but I don´t find it bad, and the threads are good looking.

Arg, I read garrybunk's answer and it accepts 14500 according to Lightmails, I have just bought it from Manafont.

looks like somebody smuggled the head out of the spark factory or maybe the factory that makes the spark lights are using none perfect spark heads and adding these bodies. good deal if that’s the case because I’m pretty happy with my st6.

mutant Spark ST5, the head looks identical right down to the removable bezel.

Ultrafire missed a trick there with the V4. A 45 degree swivel head join and that would have been a sweet angle/straight convertible.

I dunno, after how happy I am with the Z1, that light looks kinda bizarre. But nice that is uses an AA not a CR123

The battery tube looks nice and thick. It should be perfect for cleaning up on the lathe.

The whole thing looks like it would be easy to mod, as well.

Very useful flashlight and price. Ordered. It is XP-G. One of the cheapest XP-G lights around....i remember in early 2011 we could rarely get XP-G lights for 16 bucks.

asd

I may have to order that. An XP_G with an AA battery is a nice combination.

Any idea what kind of draw?

Damn it!

I agree that is a good price for an XP-G. I wish it had a clip and adjustable head angle though.

Once I receive it, I will try to make a 18650 pack for the back of my head when recquiring longer runtimes, it should also help a bit with the bouncing problem these type of headlamps have with the Kaidomain elastic belt and similar ones.

And a tail magnet. Or am I the only one who finds this feature incredibly useful?

+1

I am not sure if there will be enough room on the inside even reducing the spring's length, It might be better to do it from the outisde, but will probably look worse:

And by the way a +1 for Manafont, mine has been already shipped, not like DX where it takes ages for that.

Mine just arrived. Puts out light even on a clinically dead AA I'd just pulled from my pager (Didn't have any other AAs around, these are really nasty lightweight alkies from the local pound (dollar) shop.) Produces much more gratifying amounts of light from a 14500 - my flame protected 14500's won't fit, they are too long.

Don, what's the beam pattern like? Floody? Mostly throw? How much difference between Hi and Lo?

-Garry

Don, tell us something more, I am still waiting for it, I think it should be here next week.

How do you feel about the build and threads quality?

Will the protected flames fit reducing a bit the spring lenght?

Pictures uploading now. You would almost have to remove the spring completely top get flame Trustfires into it. While doing the beamshots with an IMR cell it got hot enough to melt solder and a small brass nipple fell out. I'll try it with NiZn next, It would seem that my one didn't like 4.2V.

The beam

The tailcap

Flame Trustfire in tube

Nasty alkie in the tube.

Anodised threads

Nice Pics Don.

Did you see how to dissasemble the head?

Maybe from that part, it might be easiert to get some more room for the protected cells.
