Convoy l6 support, won't work

Where would I find tech support for the Convoy l6? I just bought it. Put it charged Trustfire batteries (tested them @ 4.18V) and it will not work.
There isn’t any paperwork in the box so I do not know who to contact.

you should be able to get constructive advice on this forum. We build flashlights from scratch here.

Potential faults:

1. tailcap switch not working
2. bad contact from tailcap to battery tube
3. bad contact from battery tube to reflector housing
4. bad contact from driver to housing (unlikely)
5. bad driver
6. broken wires from driver to led
7. bad led

step 1: unscrew the tailcap and check if the tailcap switch is working using your multimeter. It should read infinite resistance when off and almost zero resistance when on.

Do you have any other cells? TrustFires have somewhat of a wide range of quality, I got some good ones, but there are many counterfeits out there. Power ON/OFF is on the tail switch, then when first on, I believe it comes on in low mode. Shouldn't draw much in amps, but maybe if it's PWM'ed, the protection circuit is being tripped. If you still get a voltage readings from the cells after trying, then that's probably not the problem.

There are other things to look for though - be sure the retaining rings in the tail and for the driver are nice tightly snug - can use a fine tip needlenose usually to fit in the guide holes.

If it's a real issue, then probably need to contact the seller - dunno where you bought it. There are a few resellers of the L6. GearBest, FastTech, BangGood are usually not very helpful in trouble-shooting though...

Those Trustfire red flame 5000mAh are not really good they support at max. 5A, the light will draw more

Did you order a stock or overdriven Convoy L6

This is the Convoy producers store
https://www.aliexpress.com/store/330416?spm=2114.10010108.0.0.brV5Ul

First check if the ring in front of the tailcap is tightened. If it is not, the tailcap wont make contact.

What battery would you recommend? Preferably one that I can buy quickly through Amazon.

I bought the light from Gearbest. I will try your tips tonight.
Thank You

On the tail end there is a retaining ring that almost blends in with the light. Its easily missed. That ring being loose will make it so it won’t work. Make sure that ring is tight. It can be taken off and tactical ring put on.

If your ordering 26650 from amazon I would recommend the thorfire 26650 5000mah batteries. Lots of bad batteries on amazon. Thorfire is the only fire ending name you can trust

I am so disgusted with myself. I did not even see that ring on the tail of the flashlight. Speed4goal was right. Thank you so much. I’ll also get some better batteries.

Don’t be it’s happened to several people before—the only reason I thought to check mine was some Eagletac lights do the same thing

Don’t feel bad ‘xsivone’, your not the first one this has happened to and won’t be the last. It happened to me on my first L6. It took me over an hour to figure out what the problem was & then it was only by accident that I did. :person_facepalming: :person_facepalming:

Welcome to BLF also………….

Had almost the same problem. Was happy to find this thread (thanks!). First I thought the retaining ring was missing and scratched my hair until I figured out they had screwed on the whole battery tube the wrong way with the ring facing the front/ reflector not the tailcap. Turned the battery tube around and flaschlight is working

I think Simon need to attach some illustration with L6s about the tactical and smooth ring replacement. He can avoid a lot of complaining and mailing with it.

Don’t worry. It caught me out as well when the ring on my L6 worked it’s way loose! Had a panic for 10 mins until I worked it out.
