Convoy L6... XHP70 Beast!

I used the R120 but had not measured the before. It certainly does appear brighter. I also used 20 AWG on both springs for bypass, not what was there. Going to top off the cells and give it a Go on my DMM.

With R100 in mine , 7.51 amps :

Hi, just to answer you on the vape liquids since I’m a vaper.

It consist of Propylene Glycol (PG) & Vegetable Glycerine (VG). A friend tested with a multimeter a while ago, it’s non-conductive.

JDub-74 or anyone, Simon’s store site is “empty” of flashlights, except for one. What’s up with that?

Got 6.6A with an R120 on high. Using protected Keeps that need a magnet between them to make contact. I was sent the wrong (Flattops) cells.

On a side note; I have just received shipping and tracking on the replacement 26650 at no charge. Thanks J-dub and Swi for looking out.

I was the one who said "we don't drive flashlights". I meant it in a joking way and hope it did not come across as arrogant or rude in anyway. If it did, my sincere apologies. One of the things I hate about sitting behind a key board as apposed to face to face is the chance that what one attempts to say and mean can often be misinterpreted on the other end.

The China vacation season has started, Be back in 2-3 months.

In seriousness here is the front page of Covoys store:

So looks like he will re-open on the 15th of February.

You’re all right kirman, no harm no foul.

Sometimes someone will come into the forum, perhaps with certain insider knowledge, perhaps not, and start pushing that information with zero background, which is misleading. It always pays to establish credibility first so people know or have a better idea if credibility is there.

No matter to me, I’ve built far too many lights to be swayed by a newcomer with abrupt information.

Prolly so TA, back to work on Feb 17, new parts available as early as August… :stuck_out_tongue:

Nice of you klrman to post that as it was just a nice thing to do but I didn’t have a problem with what you said and as you see Dale didn’t either. I don’t want to mention names but yours were not the comments I was referring to when I asked that we all be respectful of one another. All is well. Moving on.

Update

Good news for people wanting the new KeepPower 5200mAh Protected 26650 cells ideal for the L6.
We have a new link from BG and a better discount bringing them down to just over $7 US but the deal only runs through the end of February.
Here is the new link:
KP5200 Protected 26650
Here is the new code for 50% off:
KP50OFF

This info has also been added to the OP

Cheers.

Thanks, but I don’t see a place to enter discount code.

Edit, never mind, I found it, just not under paypal.

Yeah, it’s after you’ve added in your cart but before you select a payment method. Once it’s in your cart you can apply the code and it knocks 50% off. Pretty sweet deal on these cells.

Thanks for the code JDub-74, great price

Wow - quite a deal indeed! Thanks!

Is there any problem with Simon business?

Closed for the Chinese New Year holiday season, back open 15th February I think, no problem with his business :+1:

Correct. It’s shut down time in China. The whole country stops for nearly a full month. It should be declared an annual month of mourning for flashaholics.

You were the one to say that e-juice would blow up li-ion cells and now you question my credibilty, common man

That is nice, and I admire your work. But how does building lights give you insight into the technology and chemistry that is inside the cells? Have you read books on that stuff, or is it just forum-knowledge?

I will not further comment on this in here, primarily bc. this is taking such a nice thread soo off topic. So do not answer. If you want a serious discussion start a thread about it in more fitting subforum and I will give you some of my time and stay civil about it if you do.

Easy enough to guide a conversation away from the mainstream but then that leaves a lot of people wondering… I am not the inspector that checked out downed burned planes and concluded that vape liquids and crushed Li-ion cells were the origin. I only read those reports. I read tons of stuff… granted, I forget tons of stuff and of the bits I recall there’s always a possibility I get the facts crossed. But I do KNOW that early airline incidents were blamed on vaping supplies that got crushed in flimsy packing materials in a cargo bay. I also know that because of these incidents, we went through quite a spell where Li-ion’s were difficult to obtain.

I’ve read extensively about our cells, and how they’re made, and what makes one higher quality than another. I’ve delved into long reports where these cells were cut open, were forced to vent or explode, seen a lot. Seen reports of lights burning down apartment complexes when left on a charger, similar to the airboards and smart phones. Seen video of Li-ion cells spewing like a rocket out of a vape device after it’d been sub-ohmed to volatility while the consumer was making a purchase in a store. Seen pictures of a young man with his face burned beyond recognition when his sub-ohm vape unit had the cell explode while he was drawing on it.

Without anything backing your stance Benjy, it’s just so very difficult to give you credibility with 3 posts, controversial at that. Civil? But of course. I don’t personally know more than 2 or 3 of the 1500 people here, so of course civility is the rule. If you’re the CEO of Panasonic and you’re coming in here to enlighten us, please share your creds so we can buy in. Otherwise, you’re gonna have to give us some credit for having a lot of experience here in this forum.

We are a widely dispersed group here, we live around the globe and occupy virtually every job position known. We are brought together by a common interest in lighting our way, helping others, and having some fun along the way. All of our conversations in these million posts are read by old timers and noobs alike, so one persons response to another is usually viewed with a lot of interest, on both sides of the coin. I know a little about a lot of things. I’m not an expert on much of anything. I DO know how to get a lot out of a flashlight, that came with a lot of trial and error and a stubborn determination to build build build. Much of this fueled by an avid interest in research. Always open to learn something new, and fully aware that mainstream information isn’t always the full truth, so if you or anyone knows something that we’ve all been missing, by all means share away… I’ll keep my Sharpie ready to take notes.
