Hey All, n00b here on this forum, been over at CPF for a long time - but I like the idea and the activity here. Thanks for putting this on.
I’m looking for something that I have yet to find on the market, hoping someone recognizes a light that fits these points. My desires are as follows:
1. sub $100 cost
2. 18650 battery
3. output around 1000 lumens, more is better, runtime is not that important (within reason)
4. rear clickie
5. Heavy duty pocket clip with screws, not a friction clip
6. Don’t need lots of throw, prefer Surefire type mix of throw/flood
7. Crenulated is a bonus
8. The less modes the better, prefer 1 mode ==> full output
9. tubular design, i.e. not a large-head
This is for rear-pocket carry.
Given what I see on the market, the Zebralights come closest but I want a rear clickie - not the front button.
Sounds like a Convoy S2+ with this clip added on. If you really want crenelations, perhaps the S8 instead. Then again, my mind always goes straight to the Convoys.
One thing I neglected to put in my list of desires was to steer clear of Banggood or Gearbest - prefer to purchase within USA. That may raise the resultant price but that’s ok…
FWIW, you can get the BLF A6 (= Astrolux S1) on Amazon for $34 with free shipping. It was recently ~$20 there, so price may drop again if you’re patient.
I just bought a short-tube (18350) version of this light from the same seller (for $14!), and had no problems. Shipping was quick, light is genuine, all accessories included, etc.

Great suggestions, thank you - and appreciate the Amazon link - that’s the one I ended up going with. Added a few 18650’s and 18350’s and a new charger and I think that will make a great start. I like the stainless clip as well that was suggested, that will be next.
