Blf a6/astrolux s1 driver and xhp50

An XHP50 runs on 6V, a single li-ion is half of that. A driver that will do that is a so-called boost-driver. The LD3 is not a boost driver, so the battery voltage needs to be a bit higher than the led voltage.

Btw, single cell boost drivers for 6V leds usually have a limited current, you will not get the output of a lineair/direct driver in a 2S configuration.

allright, thank younso much!

Hmm… The LD3 is 3 or 6 amperes…
Can it do 4.5 Amperes?

If you read the LD3 info thread, you will find that a new feature in the LD3 is that there is a user configurable adjustment of the maxium output current, down to 2A off the listed current. So the 6V version can be configured down to 4A.

I saw the same on ebay, and apperently it has options of
3A,6,9,12A, and you can change it in the ui.
2-3A, 4-6A, 7-9A 8-12A

Yeah, i just read that… :person_facepalming:

Thanks. :+1:

No worries!

what would be a good output for the xhp50 then, considering I’ll be putting it in an s2+ or thorfire vg-10, maybe eagle eye x6, one of those? Maybe the 4-6 amps? sure you wouldn’t want to push up towards 12 amps?

I just did a single cell MTG2 on my S2+… The boost driver is 20mm and outputs 3A (stated on the site but i dont have meter to test it) which i believe is more than enough for a small light. I cant find any 1 to do custom pill for me so what i did was sanding off 1mm from the original pill, cover the components using wire tape (because the pill internal diameter is a bit small so i had to protect the component from contacting the wall) n let it sit on top of the pill. Still hope someone here can custom made a pill for me and it will be perfect.

nice! Does it get hot at all  I ordered some copper plate to make my heatmanagement better.

Yea of course! It a 6v emitter on a small body… its also flooder than XML2 but XML2 had alot brighter hotspot…

Do you have a link to that driver?

Just type in mtg2 driver on aliexpress.

Ld-29s driver? 20mm 3amps!

LD-29 requires 2-3 cells, they are not boost driver.

Sorry for the late reply, here it is: 淘宝网 - 淘!我喜欢
They are the only 20mm single cell boost driver for MT-G2 or XHP50 as far as i can tell…

what is the name of that driver?

Hello, new to the forum and was looking to power the XHP70 in a C8 and saw your post. Maybe this driver would work for you. It’s 17mm and will handle over 10 amps.

That’s a DD driver which you need 2 batteries (with zener mod) to drive the XHP70 led. It wont give u 10a straight out from a battery, u need 2 or more high drain cells for it

Sweet, good to know. I have one of the older Ultrafire C8’s with the duel battery tube. I’m looking to bring it back to life. It’s been sitting for 5+ years on the shelf. Thank you for the info and any suggestions would be grateful. This will be my first flashlight mod.

Great. First you need to consider the amount of heat generate by dd driven xhp70…
You also need to change the brass pill (assuming urs come with aluminum pill) or even better copper pill (if you can find any), get a DD driver with Zener mod and LED on copper mcpcb… also dont forget to do a “spring bypass” mod… you can search in this forum as there is alot of info here and u may also check out mtn electronics who offer lots of quality parts…
