I’m not using my high-amp DMM right now but this one reads up to 8-9A just fine, I have 20AWG 4” leads with banana plugs.

My liitokala cells were fully charged, will test again when I get home with the other DMM, and also ceiling bounce against my modded Jax X6 XHP-50 which produces about the same lumens as the L6 but with twice the throw.

Update: After bypassing both springs with 20AWG silicone wire and improving the driver ground contact, R100 resistor modded L6 current draw: 6.94A with fresh liitokalas, ceiling bounce equivalent: 4,150lm.

Not sure how accurate my ceiling bounce method is but it was sort of calibrated with other ANSI flashlights, although much lower in output. Very pleased with the results, and the driver is cheap enough to replace if it ever burns.

I’m using an FET Zener modified driver in my black L6 and it’s doing right at 12A for a little over 7000 lumens. This is with the top tier XHP-70. It’ll get hot too, but most of the time the night air is enough to keep it real. These lights are just exceptional, another one of those that makes people want to liberate the light from your possession.

Benjy, DB Custom, and whoever else; whether it is done in this thread or a separate thread all it’s own… I really wish the discussion of Li Ion batteries would continue. Why you may ask……… because I would like to know once and for all what the truth of the matter actually is.

Whether the person sharing info be a seasoned forum veteran, a newbie, or anywhere in between…… if they know their stuff; I’d like to hear it.
But I’d also like to be able to read references to back up what is said. That in itself would cut down drastically on opinion & BS that is shared. It would also galvanize credibility.

So for those that can back up what they say, I would really like to know the actual science, technology, & chemistry of the rechargeable lithium ion battery. Not just what I have heard or think I know…….

Lithium Ion battery discussion should certainly continue but we’ve spun out long enough for this thread haven’t we?
It would probably help more people if it were moved over to a thread dedicate to the topic like the Lithium-ion battery safety 101 thread.

Only reason I wrote what I did above was because one contestant suggested the debate take place here in this thread.

Personally, I just wish for the discussion to continue. And as far as I am concerned also, a dedicated thread would be the way to go to actually get to the real truth of the matter.

That's great results! I further updated my black L6 mod to an SMO and a P2 1C, and now getting 6,700 @start, 6,250 @30 secs, and 149 kcd taken at 5m. I measured 11.45A tail (Clamp meter).

I knew I couldn't match your results because I think you did some machining for the MCPCB and could use 18 AWG wires, I think I recall. I'm still using a SinkPAD MCPCB.

Still, with Narsil ramping, TA's triple w/SIR800DP, and 62 uA parasitic drain, it's a nice setup. The SMO & P2 1C mod bumped it up by about 500 lumens, and from 132 to 149 kcd.

That’s ok JDub, I know I don’t know what I don’t know and think I know, ya know? I’ve been in this for years, all the information I’ve had available points to an entirely different scenario. I’ve seen flaws in stuff on battery university plenty before, so much so that I seldom read there anymore. I was going to speak of phones and computers but it would get so convoluted that I deleted it. I used context that had already been pointed at, specifically “we don’t drive flashlights”. So I was trying to keep it real. I’m not in the Li-ion industry, so what do I know. I just spend thousands on the product and use it daily.

I was the one who said “we don’t drive flashlights”. I meant it in a joking way and hope it did not come across as arrogant or rude in anyway. If it did, my sincere apologies. One of the things I hate about sitting behind a key board as apposed to face to face is the chance that what one attempts to say and mean can often be misinterpreted on the other end.

Nice of you klrman to post that as it was just a nice thing to do but I didn’t have a problem with what you said and as you see Dale didn’t either. I don’t want to mention names but yours were not the comments I was referring to when I asked that we all be respectful of one another. All is well. Moving on.

Anyone able to offer me advice on the above? Or anything else - the seller’s just gone on holiday, so it won’t link the full range he has but there seemed to be a few Basen’s etc.
