Update: After bypassing both springs with 20AWG silicone wire and improving the driver ground contact, R100 resistor modded L6 current draw: 6.94A with fresh liitokalas, ceiling bounce equivalent: 4,150lm.
Not sure how accurate my ceiling bounce method is but it was sort of calibrated with other ANSI flashlights, although much lower in output. Very pleased with the results, and the driver is cheap enough to replace if it ever burns.
I’m using an FET Zener modified driver in my black L6 and it’s doing right at 12A for a little over 7000 lumens. This is with the top tier XHP-70. It’ll get hot too, but most of the time the night air is enough to keep it real. These lights are just exceptional, another one of those that makes people want to liberate the light from your possession.
Hmmmm……… seems I missed that one. :person_facepalming:
KB, you have 36 of them.
Could I please borrow that YellowSharpie, if the time ever comes to take notes that is?
Hey man that’s my 3300k-3500k?
LED lighting in my kitchen, I’m trying to get with the program here, don’t the colors just POP! :person_facepalming: :+1:
Lithium Ion battery discussion should certainly continue but we’ve spun out long enough for this thread haven’t we?
It would probably help more people if it were moved over to a thread dedicate to the topic like the Lithium-ion battery safety 101 thread.
I totally agree…. we have surely spun out enough. :+1:
Only reason I wrote what I did above was because one contestant suggested the debate take place here in this thread.
Personally, I just wish for the discussion to continue. And as far as I am concerned also, a dedicated thread would be the way to go to actually get to the real truth of the matter.
That's great results! I further updated my black L6 mod to an SMO and a P2 1C, and now getting 6,700 @start, 6,250 @30 secs, and 149 kcd taken at 5m. I measured 11.45A tail (Clamp meter).
I knew I couldn't match your results because I think you did some machining for the MCPCB and could use 18 AWG wires, I think I recall. I'm still using a SinkPAD MCPCB.
Still, with Narsil ramping, TA's triple w/SIR800DP, and 62 uA parasitic drain, it's a nice setup. The SMO & P2 1C mod bumped it up by about 500 lumens, and from 132 to 149 kcd.
Couldn’t remember exactly what it did so I charged up the pair of Basen’s (4.21V) and ran it through the box… 20,700 on the meter for 7141.5 lumens (start). This is TK’s ramping firmware with an SIR800DP FET.
The cells were down to 3.85V when I pulled em to charge and it was still making 5745 lumens.

You’re all right kirman, no harm no foul. Sometimes someone will come into the forum, perhaps with certain insider knowledge, perhaps not, and start pushing that information with zero background, which is misleading. It always pays to establish credibility first so people know or have a better idea if credibility is there. No matter to me, I’ve built far too many lights to be swayed by a newcomer with abrupt information. :D[/quote
I’m fairly new here and I’ve found this forum to be second to none. I learn something new everyday, it’s always fun and just about everyone on here is decent and willing to help out.
Anyone able to offer me advice on the above? Or anything else - the seller’s just gone on holiday, so it won’t link the full range he has but there seemed to be a few Basen’s etc.
