imaplent dt70 and dt35, why no one mention anything here

That quality issue affects other light of imalent?

Certainly not all, from my limited experience of owning 5, as I said my imalent ddt40 is a great light, Iā€™ve got probably 150 lights from various manufacturers and that is one of my most used lights, Iā€™ve bashed it, dropped it used it underground, had it caked in mud and water and itā€™s carried on working perfectly, would have no hesitation in recommending it, even the holster was very well made.
The DN11 was ok quality wise, but the touch button could have been better as itā€™s very hit and miss, especially with gloves on.
The 3 imalent hr20 though, I was really disappointed with, as hIKARInoob said, they had problems bad wiring, bits falling of etc etc, they didnā€™t even get USB correctly printed, and for me the worst bit was they were ment to be ipx8 rated, mine were no more waterproof than the titanic was unsinkable.
Whatā€™s the point of a headtorch that you canā€™t use outside in the rain.
It probably wonā€™t put me off buying more imalent stuff, - Iā€™m looking at getting the dt70 - but Iā€™ll be sure to wait until there are a good few reviews on here before I buy in future

MASSIVE review of the Imalent DT70
a load of pics, beamshots and teardown!

LEDs have domes cut off.

yes

i think first manufacturer to shave LEDs ;)

I really want to see how dt35 performs, the dt70 seems great, but I think that not so useful because the small amount of mass and cooling fins :frowning:

Donā€™t know why they need to shave their leGsā€¦ā€¦ā€¦ maybe they look sexier with more aerodynamics in use? :stuck_out_tongue: :person_facepalming:

Curious about the lumen output on turbo; on the pictures the output doesnĀ“t seem in the 16000 lumen range!! ā€¦

A german reviewer rated it at 13000 lumens. Not bad at all. I just wish they would stop overrating their lumens

There is a new video on the DT70 from WeAllJuggleKnives. It seems to be hard to find at the moment. It was a good review, but did not get too technical. IDK, maybe Imalent told him to not publish it yet, so he took it down? Iā€™ll post a link if I can find it again.

Lumen is quite difficult to measure, unlike lux.

It seems weā€™ve had our first malfunctioning DN70 light.

Maybe someone here can give him some ideas to try and fix the issue.

I hope itā€™s a simple fix and not a defect, because I want to buy one.

Yeah I just saw this one too. Iā€™m afraid I have to avoid all these new Imalent lights; there are too many negatives alreadyā€¦

Here is his response:

ā€œWeAllJuggleKnives

I had to re-edit it because I misquoted one of the stats, but donā€™t worry I am going to repost the review as soon as Banggood gets more of them available (theyā€™re currently sold out, so I figure I should just wait until they have some available).ā€

I was reading a translated forum thread on a German site (DN70 Passaround) and they say there is a first batch which may have some problems. First batch do not have loud click sound on the switch. It may also only produce 3000 to 3200 lumen on turbo. They measured 9.5 amp draw. Stepdown occurred at 2 min 30 secs.

The second batch has loud click sound on switch, plus reprogrammed firmware. These are getting 3800 to 4000 lumen on turbo. These measure 11.5 amp. Stepdown occurred at 1 min 45 secs.

Iā€™ll try and update this thread as I find out more info.

Thanks for the update Jason
Even if itā€™s ā€œonlyā€ 3000 to 3200 lumens, thatā€™s actually quite respectable. I believe the competition produces a bit less than 3000 lumens; the Klarus producing only about 2100 lumens. Iā€™ve also read somewhere than one of these lights showed ā€œImaletā€ on the display when inserting battery instead of ā€œImalentā€ā€¦ I hope there are no side effects with the second and upcoming batches.

There is a user video on YouTube of the DT70.

Here is a second DN70 that is malfunctioning. It goes to strobe instead of 3800lm.

I recently received the Imalent DT70, three of the four LEDā€™s work, one is dead. I had it tested in a well known calibrated sphere and on Turbo was putting 9,000 lumens out the front, this is with only 3 of 4 LEDā€™sā€¦ unfortunately this defective light has been very frustrating and a lesson learned. No one will repair this light, not even some of the most recognizable moddersā€¦Return shipping ranges from $65.00 USD up to $175.00 USD !!! I would not recommend purchasing any Imalent light. They do a very good job of giving you the run around in hopes your PayPal escalating deadline quietly slides byā€¦
I have pictures in the Dealers category.

Very upset!

Did you contact the store you bought it from about it being defective? Sometimes they will fix the problem. Refund or replacement. Nevermind, I see your in talks with Banggood.

Or did you contact imalent for warranty work?

Your situation is what I worry about from other Chinese only companies that do not sell replacement parts for their lights. With companies like Eagle Eye and Convoy I can buy parts easily and fix it myself. Having to ship a light back to China, on the other hand, can be quite expensive.

Did you explain your problems dealing with Imalent in a thread? Iā€™d like to learn more about how they treat their customers.

So far Iā€™ve heard people say that both Klarus and Olight ignore warranty claims. Are there any companies that take care of their customers?
