Klarus XT12GT Review

I havenā€™t got a clue how to get inside the top half. I donā€™t really wish to either.

Iā€™ll check what happens when I offer it the magnetic charging connector

A question for other owners of the XT12GT, does yours ā€œwhistleā€ when its on different modes. It sounds like the driver is ramping down power and whistling like a cheap chinese power supply. Mine has done it from day one but not all the time.

I finally added the video a week late! lol I think i need a bigger hard drive and some editing skillz would help!

mine came defective from banggood. light shuts off after 10 seconds running on turbo. need to press again the switch twice to turn in on again. sometimes it wont even turn on. i hope that this is just an isolated case and not experienced by other xt12gt users. :person_facepalming:

Have you tried a different battery? Does it get really hot?

I hope they send you a new one quickly mate! Its more common for boost driver flashlight to have issues i think.

Nice review & great pics and video. :+1:

Mine has not arrived yet, it will be a few more days. Iā€™m hoping for the best with mine, but the reports from a couple of you guys are not inspiring confidence.

Time will tell thoughā€¦ā€¦ā€¦

Thanks mate i think its not just the XT12GT its other XHP35 lights also you are boosting the voltage up a lot. That may be part of the issue.

okay will try to try 30q and some protected battery. thank you for the tip, now another problem pop up. the main tail switch is malfuctioning, it can not turn on the light consistently, sometimes it work sometimes it does not. only paddle switch works fine :person_facepalming:

I already contacted swi, and he asked me for videos. will give him two video links instead for the tail switch problem and the light turning off after a while.

Thank you for the big help!

Your welcome my friend. :+1:
That might very well be it, either way; Iā€™ll know more in a few days when mine arrives.

I tried 30q and no difference in light output though at least on my observation. .

I canā€™t wait until mine arrives. I went from choosing the NiteCore P30 to the UTorch UT02 to the Klarus XT12GT; I was sold on the magnetic charger cable and included battery. I hope this satisfies my wish for a 1x18650 with 300m+ throw.

Iā€™m looking forward to mine getting here also. I have a P30 and am very impressed with it. :+1:
Iā€™m anxious to see how the XT12GT is gonna stack up against it. I might just sell the loserā€¦ā€¦ā€¦

Well, the beam profile is that the klarus is pure thrower with almost no spill, very tight hotspot

Its about the same as a C8? Its not super throw heavy.

Well it isnt as a good modded C8ā€¦.more or less the beam profile is quite XPH35 , mots of us will be pleaced with it
The buzzing sound can be fixed with potting the tailcap pcb elements, it aint a spring issue

Comparet to P30ā€¦ā€¦well, its kinda hardā€¦those lights are different, maybe for everyday use 12GT is more practical yet P30 has its advantages: more reliable throw, pocket friendly, kinda better interfaceā€¦.lets just say its good to have them both, test them for a while and sell the one you like less

Output wise it competes with with a modded C8. Throw is still less but the overall brightness makes it usable. It compares well to my XPG3 C8.

Xmas in January for me. I ordered 1/16/2017 and received it today (or 1/26). I was playing with it while reading the manual and managed to blind my left eye with the strobe. I canā€™t wait until it gets dark. I

Mine flickers. itā€™s the driver trying to keep regulation or boost current, I suspect. It does so intermittently. It also has no mode memory and PWM on medium and low. Itā€™s an amazingly powerful light, but I expected more at this price point.

Iā€™ve charged it up until the indicator light is green and it seems the quoted 603m illumination is quite a stretch. It seems to barely reach 100m. What am I missing???

I have a video of it being used at distance. It gets way more then 100 meters.
