I just want to put one or two (or three) in AAA lights for fun and upgrade my 2 Watt goose neck lights at home with high CRI.
So theyāll find a job.
For 4000K i have a bunch of 219C.
I also got a 4000K 95CRI 30Watt COB from them, plus 100 pieces of 0.5 Watt 5630 4000K 95CRI for a head lamp idea (not all 100 of them obviouslyā¦)
The Osram Square Gen2 with 95CRI is now available in smaller quantities in some places. I just got some today. I canāt say much more than that right now.
Thanks for the heads up. I bought a few 4000K ones at led1.de. They have placeholders for 90CRI 3rd gen. Squares too, but nothing in stock, like the rest.
FWIW, those Oslon Square gen.1 2700K i bought from ebay are probably ā9080ā as they call it, lots of red, more than 219C 3000K.
Looks really āincanā
Chouster sent me a high CRI Oslon (GW CSSRM1.BM-MPMR-XX55-1) for testing since he doubted it was the real deal with all the green. Yes, itās horrible in tint, one of the worst (tint dev. almost 0.01) but does exceed CRI 90.
Here it is stuffed into a Thrunite TC12 V2 on max mode.
Maukka, thanks for the detailed test. Could you also post the test done with the light in low or mid mode? The R9 ist noticeably higher at lower currents.
@Chouster: Hahahaha finally you sent the little hulk to Maukka. I remember you said how green this Oslon is.
Now I really doubts any claims about ultra High 90+ CRI until I see it myself or spectra tested. . Seems they can play with the numbers to get high CRI on paper. Digital camera and monitor arenāt trusty either for sharingā¦.only film camera available at the moment.
I almost buy the CRI95/R9:90 Oslon earlier, this test has saved my wallet. I must test all of my Nichias right away (worry mode: on).
@clemence, yes, I was very curious about the resultsā¦
@all
The first emitter I had installed in a P60 drop-in was hooked up to a dual channel driver, so that the low modes are pulsed at 350mA, thatās were the tint is the worst to my eyes. It does get better moving to PWM @ 1400mA, but I clearly prefer the 219C R9050 sm403 from clemence at any current.
I really hate the fact that this Oslon only comes up to its CRI specs (R9 especially) at very low currents. In fact, according to the datasheet you shouldnāt even drive them at that low currents (not below 200mA). Their specs are typical R9 value of 90 at 700mA, and that basically means nothing as we see here. Itās so far off from 90, that got me thinking Iāll give a $#@Ā§ about typical values from now on.
Iād love to speak to someone from Osram about this. The LEDs have a little code on them so they could give some more information or confirm if these are really āGW CSSRM1.BMā, if they wanted.
Try 50X loupe, just in case thereās a barcode or something near the lens. I can see some tiny numbers in Nichias
Edit: I see that you already saw the code.
I ordered and received some of the 2nd gen. Oslon Square leds that maukka tested above (96CRI typ. R9:90), and put one in a small EDC.
I can confirm that the colour reproduction is really good with great reds, and I can also confirm that the tint is amazingly unattractive.
Btw, I compared the beam next to the beam of a flashlight with the Square led of the OP (which is ājustā 92CRI typ.), and next to that one, the tint looks way better, less green.
Iām in for some 219b V1 SW453 R9080 leds from clemenceās group buy, that clemence finds too rosy, perhaps a quad with a 2x2 mix of these two leds will just have the ideal tint?
Spotted these recently, along with many others, from eBay seller jwhpargos. Many warm and high CRI emitters. :THUMBS-UP:
I have a couple of Kaidomain's triple DTP individual boards. The footprint of the central thermal pad could be more width and on center accurate, though anode/cathode pad distance is precise at 2mm. I do wonder how difficult would it be for me to successfully place them over the pads correctly without any sort of bridging.
Cheers ^:)

Iāve reflowed one on a single XP copper board, itās a bit tricky but definitely doable with some tweezers and patience.
It now lives in an S30R javelot and gives some warm light with a bit of throw. Yellowish, comparing to Nichia but still good tint.
I also did a reflow on a triple board from KD but did not use it yet
