Thrunite TN 42 ,a new record in Throw

NW TN42 in med fog. This show the beam pretty well but it’s hard to see how far it really goes.

That is a nice video ‘lawallac’!!! Thank you or sharing it……… :+1:
I did that the other night (no video) but since I was holding the light I did not get as good a view as I can see on your video.

This thing looks like a mile long light saber doesn’t it??? I love playing with my TN42…

There really is quite a bit of spill in the beam that it seems kind of unnatural the amount of intensity that it still develops in the central part of the beam. Really unique for an unmodified light to have this much throw. I’d say it’s a keeper.

So now we have the aptly christened TN42 KPR.

I’d say so.
Mine is a “KPR” for sure.

thats a stock tn42 putting out close to 500 more lumens, and 100kcd , over the quoted factory specs?
is it nw, or cw ?
how do you test your big throwers?
5 meters? 10 meters?
what kind of lux meter do you use?

thanks for the help

Texas Ace tested the XHP35 to do about 2500lm max in his calibrated integration sphere, I highly doubt 3k lumens is correct.

My TN42 is Cool White. I test in a PVC “P” Trap lightbox that’s been calibrated by 25 known factory ANSI rated lights initially, then continuously checked over a hundred plus lights since. I also went to the extreme of setting up a true one mile test and got pictures of an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper with text legible by the light from the TN42 one mile away. Beyond the numbers, an actual one mile test proved it out. I think my meter is a 1330B, will double check it when I get back to it. I normally test at 5M, where I have control distance.

ok thanks for that sir
saw your 1 mile test, that was great! tx for doing that
reason im asking, i have a few vn modded lights, a tk61vn, and a newly acquired tn40svn, that are putting out about 120k lux less than the quoted spec
ive checked them on 4 different lux meters, and the only that came close was the dr meter one, it showed about 460k for the tn40svn
others include, my dmm cen-tech, that has lux meter built in, a supposed good quality extech, lt300, that i just got tody , and a cheaper one that got good reviews, and a Holdpeak 881C…
the tn40svn is supposed to put out 500k lux, but i can only get around 390k or so, same for the tk61
he also measured a stock tk42 at 700k lux, just like you did is the reason im asking
about to drive me nutts trying to figure out the true numbers !
ive shot the lights with fresh batteries at any where from 2 meters, all the way up to 10 meters….

tx……

Sometimes the numbers are hard to chase, if the lights put lumens downrange so you can see, then it’s doing what you bought it for. Getting all the numbers to line up can be frustrating. I use em more for comparative purposes than as a solid indication of what the light can do. Testing it at an actual mile was me not believing the numbers. lol

My meter is the Dr. Meter, LX1330B

10-4….thats the one i got close to specs on…
it reads higher than the extech by a good bit
just wish it had a backlight

When I have done longer throw tests, I’ve set up a point and shoot camera near the meter and video’d the test. Then it was easy to go back and see exactly what the meter was reading as I went through the modes and moved the light around.

Forget my noob question but I am looking for some suitable batteries for my (soon to arrive TN42), could someone give me some pointers? Looking through this thread it seems that I should look for button top batteries (instead of flat top batteries) with a capacity of 3000+mAh but I cannot figure out what the minimal maximal continuous discharge current should be (e.g. 15A).

Thanks in advance!

yeah, but i wonder how many weeks or months it will take to be delivered?
ive heard some bad things about gearbest

No problem with these… https://www.imrbatteries.com/lg-mj1-18650-3500mah-10a-button-top-battery/ Enter BLF15 at check out for 15% off!

Have you ever actually bought anything from GearBest so that you are speaking from your own experience, or would you just be repeating “something you heard”?

HERE,
HERE, HERE, & RIGHT HERE are a few personal experiences with GearBest I have had.

Shipping times have always been very good, to outright amazingly fast!
Pretty much ‘Free Shipping’ also, a couple of time I paid under a dollar for a “faster time”.
Never bought insurance, never paid for a tracking number.

The only issue I have ever had was with my very first order with GearBest.
I had a L6 arrive DOA, just the breaks of the game; not GearBest fault.

One short email/PM with customer service and I had a complete refund and $10 worth of points placed in my account, for my trouble they said; in less than 24 hours too!!!
The L6 was out of stock, so I just reordered in a few days when it was re-stocked.

Oh, and you happened to mention the TN 42 in your comment.
Just so happens I got my TN42 from GearBest. It took a whopping 4 days to get from China to Southwest Alabama.
Not to shabby as far as I am concerned. :+1:

Now I completely realize this may not be representative of everyone’s experience.
BUT, it sure is my experience that covers 22 orders in the last 10 months or so.

Contact M4D M4X for a code also. … :+1:

no, never delt with them…
ive seen good and bad about them though
good to see your results
how long ago did you get your tn42?

Hey man, there is good and bad about any & everything at times.
My results with them have been stellar, I agree.

I got my TN42 back in the first week of December. … The thing is amazing!!!:wink:

u get the nw, or cw ?
and have you checked the lux?
