What is your favourite light at the moment?

I’m playing with a Klarus XT12GT, Imalent DN70 and a BLF X5. For the cost of either of the first two lights you could buy 3 or more of the X5s yet the X5 keeps on impressing me.

The size, tiny. The weight, just right. The brightness, PERFECT.

It’ll light up my garden and road, it seems to run for ages on a single cell.

It seems like a perfect light apart from the bright light in the tail cap.

The XT12gt, too big. The Imalent DN70, the power buttons are too fiddly.

I’m honestly thinking of grabbing a few more of the X5s if they pop up on offer again. I can think of so many people who would want one. Leave it in a car, leave it in a cupboard, purse, laptop bag…. The list goes on.

I feel I need to buy something big and stupid as at the moment all of the lights I’ve received recently have been “small”. The other two recent additions are a Klarus mi7 and a manker e11 so I’m feeling a little emasculated.

Crelant V4A, came yesterday, takes 4AA eneloops, has the throw of a C8 and has infinitely variable programmable modes.

Something nice about quad AA lights. I’ve had a few EA41s. Often end up having people buy them off me and I need to order another. I like the sounds of the programmable modes.

My 2900 lumen Fenix TK75. A nice combination of throw and flood. Great battery life as well. Second would be my Convoy L6’s. Amazing build quality and a very bright floody beam. For the price, nothing comes close.

Awaiting the Q8, Nitecore TM06S
Thorfire S70 or Convoy L6 (depends on what door I use to exit, both do the same job excellent)

My old modded Sipik 58 with reflector. I recently rebuilt the tailcap, which solved the reliability issues I was having with it. I also upgraded the emitter from XML2 to XPL HI.

It has the following features:

  • 3.0 amp driver with lumodrv firmware (2-way ramping with shortcuts to min and max)
  • Electronic tailcap switch
  • Unique optic system: 18mm plastic aspheric lens with a small plastic reflector behind it surrounding the LED.
  • polished bare aluminum with chrome bezel

What I like about it? The optic system. I have another modded Sipik 58 with an LED Lenser style optic in it and FET driver. However, despite having a lower powered driver, I find the flood beam on the reflector Sipik to be much more useful. The tiny reflector adds a broad diffuse hotspot in the center of the floodbeam. This broad hotspot makes for a surprisingly useful and bright beam and is considerably brighter than the center of the floodbeam of all my other zoomies, including larger ones powered by FET drivers and IMR 18650 cells.

In spot mode, the reflector shows up as an extremely ugly giant donut around the projection of the die. Fortunately this donut is very dim, and is really only an issue in white-wall tests.

I’d have to say favorite right now is the astrolux s2 with the xpl2 direct driven over 1800 lumens. Or convoy m1 xpl2 direct driven over 1700 lumens. Its to close to call between the two. Soon it maybe a c8 since the xpl2 makes over 2k lumens in them

Indeed, i am writing a review on it

lumintop tool - so cheap, so tiny, so well made!

or i will carry a manker U11 for when the light needs to be brighter or longer lasting
(though it is almost too big for pocket EDC)

Thorfire VG10 and VG15
S2+

I keep coming back to my first PFlexPRO P60. 3.8 amps 3 modes in a Solarforce L2N, with the A001 head. Got it in the start of 2014.

As I’m waiting on my DQG Tiny 26650 3th 7x XP-G2 CW 2500LM to come, my first new light in a minute. My light of choice at the moment
is a FandyFire Warrior. It has 3 leds but I would not know the particulars. It holds nice and will light up the inside of a barn.

Klarus XT12GTS

They are still available on the banggood flashlight clearance page. If you use the code, it comes out to less than 20 USD.

For anyone in the US, they have some in the US warehouse for 23.99 USD but only 1A tint.

According to tracking info, mine is supposed to arrive this weekend. Based on what you wrote, I am looking forward to testing it out!

btw, my favorite light right now is the Utorch UT01! This little thing is nice and bright! I particularly like the user programmable levels. But this is also my only acquisition since joining the 2 flashlight forums. I’m pretty n00b to this!

Utorch UT01. I EDC it along with a Spyderco dragonfly and 2 backup 14500 cells.

I use it at work all the time so I guess that makes it my fave. Just today I used the firefly mode to take a picture of a really small date wheel on a defective cooling fan. I sent this pic to my supplier and they determined it is OK to use.

S2+ with a triple Nichia
X5

Yup those x5’s are really nice. I was finally able to purchase two of them for the sale price. Never wanted to pay the regular price. At the sale price, I might purchase a few more as well. But one of them came with a faulty driver I think. It has previous mode memory, instead of next mode, it comes on previous mode?! Hahah

That’s my favorite stock light. My most favorite light is my Tn40vn. It now has Xhp35hi’s.

What is your favourite light at the moment?

Acebeam X65vn.

Because it makes everything else look like a sub caliber. The beam profile/performance is what I favor. All other flashlights have beam profiles that are lessor in performance.

Yes, I actually get more routine use from the Olight S2 Baton.

Yes, a .22 rimfire gets more use than a .458 Winchester Magnum. But, I carry the X65 during my nightly six mile brisk hilly walks, and I can fire it without causing a huge ruckus.

I’m in the midst of replacing gobs of galvanized plumbing in a basement, so my trusty Zebralight H502W headlight is my favorite at the moment. It’s absolutely perfect for the job.
