Crelant CH10 & Yupard. Are they the same?

Crelant CH10 & Yupard. Are they the same?

Looking on the aliexpress.com site, I saw a headlamp that looked familiar. Advertised as “Yupard XM-L2 LED Headlamp Headlight 2 Mode Waterproof super T6”, the head strap had diffrent wording, but the lamp body looked exactly the same as my Crelant CH10. Though it does not say so in the advert, one of the reviews states that it has “Two modes plus dimming and strobe.”, that is the same as the CH10. The one thing I was not sure about was the Yupard reflector, it looked smooth in the photos, where as the Crelant has an orange peel reflector. There again the orange peel on the Crelant is very light, not sure if it would show in a photo. The Yupard on aliexpress.com was about half the price I paid for my Crelant CH10. If the Yupard really is the same thing, then it looks like a bargain. There again, even if the lamp body is exactly the same, it does not necessarily follow that the electronics and emitter are the same. I have looked at photos of other Yupard lamps, and the general impression I got was of cheap and nasty, though it is probably unfair to judge just on photos.

I regret having bought the Crelant CH10, I do not think it stands up well to its (more expensive) rivals, but if the Yupard is the same thing, then at UK £8.19, US $12.35 (on 09/October/2015), it strikes me as value for money for anyone looking for a cheap headlamp. If it really is the same.

Does anyone have this lamp?

Dont know. but just because it looks similure does not mean it is identical. give us a link to the non creleant and look at the specs. does it have ramping?

@Ronin42,

They don’t just look “similure”. To my eyes, the lamp bodies look exactly the same. But you are correct, looking the same does not prove that they are the same. I tried to stress that point in the original post.

give us a link to the non creleant[…]”

There is a link to the Yupard add at the bottom of the first post. Also clicking on either image will take you to the respective Yupard or Crelant page.

does it have ramping?” One of the reviews of the Yupard says “Two modes plus dimming and strobe.”, I take “dimming” to mean the same as “ramping” in this context.

I imagine a floating star in the yupard . lol Description at the bottom of the pictures says aluminum and ABS plastic construction and only mentions two modes. Additionally, the yupard has a spring in the tailcap while the ch10 does not.

If it really is the same?

NO. Crelant lights are one or two level above than Yupard, in terms on build quality, power, mode, packaging, etc... CH10 closest competitor is JetBeam HC20.

I agree with freeme. The CH10 is better made, better packaged and better anodised. Yes the Yupard does have ramping/dimming.

The Yupard did arrive with a cracked lens but Yupard sent a couple of replacements quickly (still trying to get the cracked lens out without damaging anything else!) I quite like it and is a much used ’beater”.

No, not the same, I have both, the crelant is much better built they have similar UI
The crelant flashes when it gets low, the yupard doesn’t. they both ramp,
there about the same brightness I think I payed $12 for the rupard, it’s not a bad light for the price but for an extra $10 get the crelant

Thanks Aardvark and Beachlogger.

It’s good to hear from a couple of people who have experience with both lamps. I think your answers clear up most of the questions I had in my own mind. The only thing I am left wondering is which bits of the Yupard are ABS plastic?

P.S.
In the image of the Crelant in my first post, and in all the specifications I have seen, it says that weight of the Crelant CH10 is 66g. I weighed my CH10, on my kitchen scales, then weighed it on the scales at the local Post Office, just to make sure. Both scales gave the body-only weight, without battery, straps, or rubber bracket, as 87g. 21g more than claimed. Naughty Crelant! |(

I got the yupard headlamp and i must say the quality is low in term of anodizing and waterproof.

I do have to give ten out of ten to Crelant for the finish on the CH10, it is beautiful and flawless. The beam characteristics are also quite good, and the colour looks fairly neutral to my eye. If only there was a one click way to get from on to off, and if it did not turn on each time I insert a new battery, nearly blinding the poor cat (thank god I don’t have children), it might be a decent lamp.

I loved the ch10 but it was too much of a challange for me to swap emitters. that and the the size of wire used inside is a joke. but other than that, I thought is was a very good light for the price.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but there hasn’t been much discussion on the CH10.

Gearbest has them for $21 and I just got mine.

Those of you who have had it for a while… has it held up well?

Both the yupard and the crelant has held up well for me, the yupard gets the nasty jobs and has taken a beating. I would get the Crealant for $21 in a heartbeat
It has parasitic drain so don’t leave your favorite battery in it without unscrewing the cap a bit

Thanks for the response and the tip.
I don’t make a habit of locking out my lights, so I’d better use protected cells in it, just in case I fail to lock it out.

THanks again!
Poppy

How hard is it swap PCBs in these Crelant or Yupard lights? I’d like to try them out, but haven’t seen any pictures of disassembly to see if I can drop a 20mm Noctigon in there.

Give me a day or so and I’ll take one apart :sunglasses:

The yupard came right apart, the head unscrews and there is a nipple . Depending on which part the nipple stays with determines if you get access to the driver or the star.

The crelant looks like it will unscrew also, but mine didn’t although I didn’t try too hard

The main physical difference between the two is the battery holder of the yupard unscrews in a couple of pieces and has these phony washers with grounding wires soldered to them to make ground complete to the driver

Should be a simple matter to change emitters :student:

btw try the crelant neutral/ warm , you might not need to change anything

Thanks for update Beachlogger!

I will probably buy the neutral white for regular use, but I want to put a red XP-E2 on a Noctigon in there to use for night hunting coyote, fox, etc.

A commercially made adjustable brightness red LED headlamp made for hunting is around $125. I think I can do better than that!

I haven’t got crealant, I have yupard (or it’s copy if any exist.)
Few bad words about yupard I have:

1. it is not waterproof at all, not splashproof, not fogproof. I didn’t care much about it until I dropped it into the water and it is filled with water straight away. There are 6 threaded connections and a glass lens, so 7 o-rings expected. Found just 2. I haven’t got very thin ones to add, 1mm is too thick.
2. glass lens made of plastic. Easy scratched.
3. no low battery warning, it just switching off. Not nice at all to be caught in a dark enclosed space.
4. I noticed the light even not trying to get a little bit warmer when on. it is good on one side, but I had a feeling something wrong here. After this flood accident I opened it up and found wires to sink pad soldered in a wrong position, 1 of the wires was in the way between sink pad and torch body, so there was a good gap. there was a lot of paste underneath but no contact of sink pad and body.

is crealant same?
