Review: Jet-Beam BA20

Thanks for the review, fran!

If you want this light and are brave enough to order from DD:

http://www.dinodirect.com/led-flashlight-cree-xpg-r5-led-30lm270lm-2mode.html

Kokopelli wrote it is indeed the BA20 (see first review).

It's 30.69 US$ BEFORE coupon, if you add "oneworldweshare" it gets down to 25.69!

I would order myself but having the Klarus P2A it doesn't make sense (or does it?)

what are the clear differences between the Klarus and the Jetbeam?

thanks for the review fran!!

I think they are made in the same factory, they share electronics, switch, etc...

The main differences are:

- Klarus declares 245 vs the jetbeam declares 270 (in real life, people say they give the same output)

- Klarus has cool tint and jetbeam has some neutral-cool tint

- Klarus throws a bit more than the jetbeam (however both have exactly the same reflector. Difference should be due to the tint)

- Machining of the outside of the body. Different clearly.

They are almost the same, but I have had BOTH on my hands and I prefer the JetBeam because it is nicer and the CLIP is reversible. The klarus NOT.

I have tested both and as many people say, the klarus has a cooler tint while the jetbeam has a more neutral tint. Both seems to throw to the same distance and they seem to produce the same lumens output, but without measuring equipment... difficult to say

This may help you

gracias por lo todo jeje.

fran, can you detect any greenish-ness on any of the 4 modes (JB: Hi-Lo, Klarus: Hi-Lo)?

Difficult to say. Mis ojos no son muy de fiar... pero...

On Hi mode, no greenish-ness nor in the jetbeam nor in the klarus.

On Low mode, no greenish-ness nor in the jetbeam nor in the klarus.

thanks for the links and your personal ojojaja ;)

i've triggered the pull on the P1A clarus .. and i am eager to see it shipped (pre-ship photo by DD).

excelente resena ¡¡

Buen bicho! Y más barato que la JetBeam. Yo me sigo quedando con la JB, sin embargo si necesitara una con las mismas caracteristicas, me iba a la klarus de calle, por ser más barata y rendir mas o menos igual

I have the Jetbeam BC20 and it runs on 2 CR123 batteries and it supposedly puts out 305 lumens on high and 20 lumens on low. It is said to throw out to 136 meters, and have a max runtime of 36hrs. I really like it. I paid $35 shipped for it.

ma barato??

ej qué va ¡¡

y que nadie me odie por eso *gg*

Ahahaha you used the coupon and dinopoints yeah!!!! looks like that DinoDirect is going to sell many flashlights with this "policy". Very good DinoDirect! let´s see if DealExtreme learns to this.

Sorry, I don't understand spanish. But how in hell did you manage to buy a P1A for $ 6.39??? (And why did you only order one?)

edit: Ok, fran was quicker (as usual)

i guess i am driving boardies crazy with my bragging about the achieved DD deals… Anyway, i used 400 dinopoints, 5$ off coupon, and DD giftcard. The remaining amount payable thru paypal.

well, let's be patient. my order is "Paid Order" but not yet "Order Accepted" or shipped.

I see, thanks for the explanation (for a moment I thought I had already missed the deal of the year 2012... ;) )

Very detailed review Fran! Thanks very much. Frontpage’d and Sticky’d.

I am new to the world of bright flashlights. I have been reading online in the forums etc. and the amount of info out there is astounding.

So far all I own is UltraFire. I have an UltraFire WF 501B XP-G (R5) with another 501B on the way, with XM-L ($10.00). I also have an UltraFire that zooms and also runs on 18650. I like it more than I thought I would. The Saik, I payed $7.50 for delivered. It has an extension in the middle, and will run on (2) AA’s or (1) Cr123A

I have a Klarus P2A on the way, which I ordered before I saw this forum. And an UltraFire C8 w/ XM-L. The Klarus will probably get here tomorrow.

Thanks for the review. I almost bought the Jetbeam BA 20, but found a better deal on the Klarus.

Welcome to this nice place, RichLee!

Both lights will perform more like the same…

The only differences are:

1) The BA20 has a more warmer tint than the P2A
2) The machinning of the body different (IMO the jetbeam is nicer than the p2a), but both have same quailty
3) The clip in the jetbeam is reversible (in the klarus not)
4) Late units of the klarus p2a are coming with square threads, which are more robust, smoothier and longer than the triangular shape of the jetbeam (however I dont know if the late units of the jetbeam are coming with square threads too)

Basically both lights are made in the same factory with the same led, same reflector, same electronics, same switch… only differences are the “shape” of the body an another minimal aspects…

And they have about the same light output, same runtime, same amount of light on each mode, etc…….

LOL. A different Rich Lee. I wish I could draw like that.

came this week.
