Linux is pretty easy these days. I have only played with a few flavours (settled on elementary) and most of them had easy to follow guides on how to make a bootable USB drive if you don’t want to worry about partitioning, from there it should be mostly cutting and pasting. If you run into troubles I am sure some of the cool kids that know linux well could help you out.
You can use atmel but good luck getting it to compile, I think Tom posted some ready to compile exports from atmel to make it easier at some point.
As was said if you have a spare USB drive laying around it is really quite simple to install a “live USB” version of linuix on a USB drive and simply boot your computer to that when you want to use it.
I have a USB drive with a half dozen linux installs along with every utility I have come across that can be run from the command prompt. I even have a full windows 8.1 install on a USB drive.
That sounds like a nice alternative option. I used to run a version of Knoppix (old Linux build) off a CD and that was pretty simple to use. I’d ask Tom about that but he doesn’t respond to my PMs anymore.
+1 for Ubuntu Linux or one if it’s official flavors (Xubuntu, Lubunut, Kubuntu, Ubuntu MATE, etc) loaded onto a USB drive. It’s typically much easier than you’d imagine and it doesn’t make any changes to your hard drive (unless you specifically tell it to).
Yes, I have the same problem, waiting for the seller’s (Simon from Convoy store) feedback.
From where have you bought yours?
The problem is that the light enters into group selection mode every time you switch it on. Unfortunately it is something that you can only possibly fix with driver reprogramming.
Hi Benoe, got it from Convoy store in Aliexpress as well.
In my case, that doesn’t seems to be group selection mode. Seems to me it’s in normal operating mode. Just that the light flickers some kinda code (doesn’t look like a random blink) before it goes to the default moonlight mode.
Yes, it should be the config mode, and what you see is the two “buzzes” (first for group selection, second for mode memory on/off). Normally you should get here after tapping the button 10 times.
Hello, it works correctly to buy in the store of simon, only that it is a little quick the blinks, it hinders a little the programming requires some attempts, one is programmed in mode 10 the other stock.
Just got mine today. Can’t really beat it for the price.
I’m a n00b when it comes to programming a light but was able to get memory turned on which was most important. Planning on trying a different setting (4) but 1 is good for now.
10 clicks fast less than 3 seconds, with flashlight turned on, if after this flashes 2 times and then 3 enter as a programming, not really, repeat 10 clicks fast not deep, flash 2 times tighten before doing 3 Blinks, re-start, starts 1 blinking, pause 2 blinking pause ……… 12 blinking, not counting blinking counting pause between blinks, if you want 4 press in pause 4 in depth to turn off / on, on And verify that it is the way to your taste, it seems difficult but it is not after 2 or 3 try , and excuse my bad english use translator, greetings !!!
