Imalent HR20 Review

Your review made me order a HC30 actually.
Must say though, that stepless dimmer function and some more features of the Imalent are very nice, and the price is attractive too.

Yea the HC30 is a solid choice i would have a hard time choosing between these 3. They are both similiar but worlds apart. I think the Imalent and Skilhunt are a tad cheaper but the Nitecore should drop in price its about a year and half old almost. Heaps of option for optics for the Nitecore if you want to go that route.

I was waiting for a review on this one. Thanks. Do you have any measurements? Does it have any parasitic drain? What’s the real runtime?
Never mind, I see more reviews of this light. Thanks.

Thanks mate!

Yea the length and weight is in the review i will dig it out. I weighted the HR20 at 47 grams without the battery. Altogether with the included 18650 cell and headband i should add lol. It is 126 grams

Okay i found the calipers it is 10.6cm in overall length

Tail cap diameter is 2.3cm

Head diameter is 2.6cm at its biggest point

I can do run time test for you i am just sitting on the computer any ways. They say 1 hour and 45 min but that is with step down from 1000 lumens. I cant really measure when it step down.

The standby drain is super low 12.3 Microamps. I have never seen a reading this low lol.

I have this but with a black cover. Very flimsy connector microUSB. I’m afraid one day it will fall off along with the wire.
Another annoying me flicker on low mode. Not really weak but so.
Also, my not sealed. When unscrewing the cap and blowing inside the air easily exits through the opposite side.
My rating 3/5.

Does HR20 accept flat top batteries?

Weird mine is fine. I even had in the rain when i was taking these pics as you can see no problem! I have no PWM either. Maybe its your battery connection?

I love infinite variable output, but dont think ill jump on this one. Ive read about the flicker in another thread.

Hey mate i just tried and it does! My LG HG2 are a tad short so it rattle a little nothing major. Only when you shake the light really hard.Same with my Samsung 25r they work but if you where to hit the light to hard it may turn of because the connection would be broken. I wouldn’t suggest hitting the light hard lol.

The head has a tint button on driver board that is maybe 1mm long.

No. The battery is not being.
Do not PWM. Trembling brightness. Approximately 10-20% brightness its happening.
This is a problem in the driver may not be correctly matched inductance or capacitance.

I just tried mine again but this time on a white wall through my camera and its completely fine. Maybe it was just the first ones? i would have noticed when i was taking pics. I will have a video up soonish i hope you will be able to see in that.

You mean its a frequency problem? I honestly can not see it.

I’m afraid to open it. I saw pictures of what’s inside and it does not inspire optimism me
There is a problem. What exactly is due, I do not know. If a newer version to fix it, it’s good.

I have both variants: with black and blue covers, the second one is significantly better: more solid built, no flickering.

Black one came DOA but I managed to fix it.
And yes, it looks terrible inside :frowning:

It does not look like frequency issue.
Just random blinks with significant output drop. Usually happens in low mode. Not so often to stop using flashlight but still…

Can you quide me in the right direction about optic options for the hc30?
Do you mean ready to buy click on little adjustment optics or get the heat gun ready and fire up your soldering iron optics?
I have a HC30 and want to venture into maybe doing something with a flip up/down diffuser like the skilhunt H03F has got.
Thanks

I kinda like the H03F but refrain from buying one, due to people saying it may flicker and Skilhunt’s customer service/guarantee sucks.

My optics fit straight in the HC30 I had to sand Down the sides a little but nothing major. I got mine from fasttech. I’ll find the size for you. I think my optics may be a little floody for most people.

Very positive review.

Just keep this below in mind and what it may cause:

This is the optics that fit on the HC30 i use this exact one. It maybe better to get a different angle how floody do you want the beam to be? these optics have like no throw at all. You could use a diffuser if you want like half/half? Get a tiny hinge and piece of metal that fits over?
