Imalent HR20 Review

No. The battery is not being.
Do not PWM. Trembling brightness. Approximately 10-20% brightness its happening.
This is a problem in the driver may not be correctly matched inductance or capacitance.

I just tried mine again but this time on a white wall through my camera and its completely fine. Maybe it was just the first ones? i would have noticed when i was taking pics. I will have a video up soonish i hope you will be able to see in that.

You mean its a frequency problem? I honestly can not see it.

I’m afraid to open it. I saw pictures of what’s inside and it does not inspire optimism me
There is a problem. What exactly is due, I do not know. If a newer version to fix it, it’s good.

I have both variants: with black and blue covers, the second one is significantly better: more solid built, no flickering.

Black one came DOA but I managed to fix it.
And yes, it looks terrible inside :frowning:

It does not look like frequency issue.
Just random blinks with significant output drop. Usually happens in low mode. Not so often to stop using flashlight but still…

Can you quide me in the right direction about optic options for the hc30?
Do you mean ready to buy click on little adjustment optics or get the heat gun ready and fire up your soldering iron optics?
I have a HC30 and want to venture into maybe doing something with a flip up/down diffuser like the skilhunt H03F has got.
Thanks

I kinda like the H03F but refrain from buying one, due to people saying it may flicker and Skilhunt’s customer service/guarantee sucks.

My optics fit straight in the HC30 I had to sand Down the sides a little but nothing major. I got mine from fasttech. I’ll find the size for you. I think my optics may be a little floody for most people.

Very positive review.

Just keep this below in mind and what it may cause:

This is the optics that fit on the HC30 i use this exact one. It maybe better to get a different angle how floody do you want the beam to be? these optics have like no throw at all. You could use a diffuser if you want like half/half? Get a tiny hinge and piece of metal that fits over?

15 degree optics
15 degree optics

30 degree optics
30 degree optics

Holy Sh*t!

That is another brand off of my list.

Thank dude!
Just how do you get the HC30 lens open?
Is it friction fit or glued?

It is screwed in. Its easy to open. I just used my palm.

Awesome dude thanks so much!

Also great review!!

Coupon code is updated for any one interested.

I LOVE this headlamp and can also confirm the newest version with blue top works perfectly. No issues.

All of these types of headlamps are meant to be worm with that dorky top strap. I refuse to wear it! Without that top strap it does flop a bit. Doesn’t feel stable. I have a Thrunite TH20 and decided to pop the Imalent into that strap (it doesn’t have a top strap). WOW! The Imalent is not perfectly stable. No need for a top strap now. The rubber mount is beefier so grabs and hold the Imalent tighter. AND the Thrunite strap is tighter and sturdier. I will now only use the Thrunite TH20 strap with all my headlamps. Try it!

Update charging light went out completely! Ughhhh. I’m pretty sure it’s still charging because I take out the battery completely and while plugged in the light still work.

Anyone have this issue? Any easy fix?

Probably popped the protection in the battery. Do you have a different one to try? Even if a flat top, use a magnet or solder blob to test.

It’s not the battery. I’ve tried a few others.

I’m almost certain it’s still charging batteries just no LED indicators of doing so. As I mentioned, while plugged in I can take out the battery and the headlamp still turns on

The red charging light indicator stays red on mine all day if i leave it plugged in. I dont dare use the built in charging anymore and thats a bummer, thats why i bought it, TO charge it in my truck.
I have also the “flickering” problem on mine…and the rubber “o-rings” that keep the light in the head band are not very tight, the light spins very easily while on my head. Not very impressed by this light :frowning:
