Test/review of Vbatty IMR18650 3000mAh V30 (Blue-gold)

Vbatty IMR18650 3000mAh V30 (Blue-gold)

Official specifications:

  • Brand: Vbatty

  • Size: 18650

  • Chemistry: IMR

  • Nominal Capacity: 3000mAh

  • Nominal Voltage: 3.7V

  • Discharge: 30A Continuous, Rated 40A Max Pulse by Vbatty

  • Positive: Flat

  • Rechargeable: Yes

  • Dimensions: 18.23mm x 65.02mm

  • Weight: 46g

This is a high capacity and high current battery.

The discharge curves has good tracking and capacity only drops slowly with load. The battery has trouble at 30A due to heat.

The battery will get warm at high current.

At 20A it was very close to a termination due to temperature.

At 30A I had to stop due to temperature. The battery reached 86°C after I terminated.

Conclusion

This battery has very good performance for both capacity and current.

nice review as always HKJ and is this battery already on sale?

thank you :+1:

Thanks for the review! 30Q performance (suspiciously similar) for triple the price, not very interesting.

^

They are selling it for $5 on Alibaba.

With that said I will stick w/ 30Q’s which are a 20 minute walk from my house[liionwholesale.com]!,no wait,no shipping!

Thanks for the review!

I will have to compare these to the top IMR batteries!,Using your comparator of course.

EDIT: I am impressed. In terms of Voltage sag, It is slightly better than LG HG2, Basically even w/ the 30Q and ONLY bettered slightly by the VTC6!

I am taking a wild guess and saying that it is using a 30Q cell. Throughout different voltages the curves are basically identical.

Hello,Zelee,

This is Nicky from Vbatty,V30 has been already on sale in the New Year, feel free to contact me if you have any interest.
I can give you a best price.

My email is :sales25@szvbatty.com

Best Regards

Just to follow up and clarify.

They[Alibaba] were going to sell me 8* $4.38=$35.04. I did not realize that it would cost a total of $64.50 after shipping costs!!!

No reason to switch from 30Q when they are 1.5 miles from my house,$5.75 and NO SHIPPING! :+1:

Hello Robert,

The shipping was quoted based on the starting weight of 2Kg from Fedex .You could take 40 pcs within the same cost .

Thank you. I understand that! I have no use for 20 or 40 pcs.!We discussed this last night through several emails!

Unfortunately for people like me who want 4, maybe 8 batteries, your product along with shipping cost is NOT feasible for people in the USA.Just the way it is,no fault of yours.

I would have liked to try a few. It appears you have a good battery[verrry similar to 30Q!] but at too much of a TOTAL cost for the average flashlight guy in USA!

I can get 30Q and other batteries right down the street from me w/ NO SHIPPING COST. I am grateful for that.

That sounds a bit like the woman who buys 4 fur-coats in a sale and tells her husband she has earned $4,000 today

EDIT: but the batteries look fine! Thank you HKJ!

So, it’s a re-wrapped samsung 30Q, which we buy all day long at 5 to 6 dollars qty 1 at a time.

I wonder why everybody says 30Q, it is not the only cell it is very close to (I do not know the correct answer).

It is strange because the voltage tracks VTC6 pretty much identically, but it just looks like the internal resistance is a tad higher so the voltage sags a bit.

That is True after going through ALL your 18650 IMR batteries on the comparator.

The Only other Two[2] that mirrored it was the Efest IMR 18650 3000mAh [Purple] 2016 and the Keeppower IMR 18650 NH1830 3000mAh Black 2016.

I would say it matches the VTC6 fairly well.

It does, but not quite as well as the others I have mentioned, the gap w/ the VTC6 has a little bigger advantage/separation on the voltage curves. While the aforementioned are basically on top of each other for 3a,5a,7a,10a and 15a. :sunglasses:

The 30Q matches very good, but the Vbatty is a bit better at end of the discharge. The VTC6 has lower internal resistance, that can be because it has been on storage for a shorter time.

I believe it is difficult to decide which one matches best.

Thanks HKJ. You inspired me to read and learn more about the other graphs you do in your review. I did notice the better “End of discharge” for the Vbatty VS. 30Q.

I do not have the understanding/knowledge you have. I am just basing what I see in the voltage curves. Now I can expand my horizons!

I am hoping Illumns or another dealer here in USA will stock them! It will be nice to do my SIMPLE run time/voltage tests on them.

I would NOT notice the output difference in my single modded throwers whether it be HG2,VTC6,30Q OR this battery. They are ALL very good batteries,it is the TYPE “A” personality that wants a little edge, regardless of how unnoticeable by eye and insignificant on paper!!! lol!

The cell tracks perfectly with Samsung 30Q, but got to be a better batch with a bit over 100mAh more capacity
