Manker E14 18500 Battery Tube Mod

I really like this lights form factor with the short battery tube but there is just not enough capacity with the 18340 cell.
I had ordered the 18650 tube along with the light but do not like the added length although the extra juice is great so i decided on a compromise…

I have used the 18650 tube with the threads on one end cut off, a large clicky switch, flat rubber switch boot, some JB weld, 1mm copper wire and oven cleaner to remove a required amount of the anodizing from inside the tube for the switch contact

.

To make this 18500 cell version of the E14.
It is only around 5mm longer than the 18340 version with much greater runtime and increased output.

This has four XP-L HI emitters with a 17mm MTN driver, GITD tape inside the bezel and the other stuff is in the other mod thread i did
The copper wire is soldered and epoxied in place.

Max – 2000lm
cd – 7200
Throw – 170m

.

Beautiful job!

Can you show us how you did the tailcap and shortened the battery tube?

Could you not have asked before i put it all together!?

I’ll see what i can do

do you have a picture of the GITD tape in the head?

No, it is a thin strip of this type of sticky back sheet cut to maybe 3mm stuck to the inside of the head at the top.

a strip of sticky back sheet on a roll = tape.

It was a strip cut from a sheet, call it tape if you want :stuck_out_tongue:

It probably came from a roll at one point… :cowboy_hat_face:

Ok but did you like the mod…?

Very nice mod.

Mine tends to stay in the long battery tube configuration so I can run 18650’s. I love the light. The tint of the 219’s is perfect for my use.

I would love to know more about this build as I’d like to duplicate it! How did you do the copper work on the bottom and how did you change the shape of it all?

Thanks

I would love to have a fingernails worth of your talent Stevi.
