great little cheapo 18650

Yes Teacher you are correct it is a close up up of the USB port on the side of the head :person_facepalming:
I was completely confused & had to hold my light up against your picture above with the port cover off to realise they were one & the same :person_facepalming:
I apologise to anyone I have confused & make the excuse that it is an age thing :person_facepalming:
Actually it”s not it was just me being stupid :frowning:

Zeroair over at reddit reviewed this light. Reddit - Dive into anything

Ooooooh! I see - it’s a circular crop of the side USB port that makes it appear to be a rear-of-the-tube charging port (guess I need to look at these more on my computer and less on my phone) It’s VERY clear on my macbook, but I swear, on my phone, it appears to be at the rear… :person_facepalming:

Yep, that’s it exactly ‘raynman’… :+1: (“circular cropwere the words I was looking for & could not come up with… :person_facepalming: …. thanks, you did :+1: . )
It fooled me too for quite a while until I saw the picture mentioned in the quote below. When I saw it, all became clear.

Hmmmm, thank you ‘B-H’; but I was mainly just trying to answer raynman’s question up in post #13…… I had in fact completely missed what you said about the tail cap location until I just went back and re-read it.

It must have just been a “brain fart” on your part though, because I cannot believe it is “an age thing”; nor that you could be “stupid” either.
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it…….

Mine’s on the way.

yeah - all this attention I’ve been giving this light has gotten to me - finally I’ve given in and have ordered one for myself….

It was inevitable, really - I just can’t look too much at any light for too long without having to have it in my hands…

Conclusion

I can’t recommend this light.
I don’t like it, I’m glad I don’t have to test it any more,
and I’m not even sure what I’ll do with it from here.

Here is a very good Video Review by our own ‘NikolaS’…

It sounds like a keeper to me, especially since I have 3 of them….
A nice little light for the price. :+1:

Aha, so you were the one to point us to those Boruits. I knew you sounded familiar.

Damn you, I ended up getting 4 of ’em. Not all for me, but…

No memory on this critter, though? Man, that’d drive me buggy if I had to ride the side-clicky every time I turned on the light to get to the brightness I’d want. Even the Boruits remember the brightness setting…

But seriously, 12bux for this (questionable quality, lousy UI), vs 15bux for a DV-S9 (thing of beauty)? No brainer…

Probably should’ve posted this reply here rather than in the other thread, but why not, I’ll just c&p…

No offense to anyone who likes this light, but I think for ~15bux the UltraFire DV-S9 kicks its ass.

Diving light, magnetic switch (slider), you set the brightness like a wall-mounted dimmer switch to whatever brightness you want. As in instantly, no ramping up/down or anything. Want “turbo”, slide it all the way. Want almost-moonlight, just give it a small nudge. Damn, I love that…

It takes a 26650 (comes with a sleeve to take an 18650), is a rather beautiful deep indigo color, and is waterproof (being a diving light, well, duh).

I’m still waiting for my second one, as I liked the first so much I had to get a spare.

As for this unnamed critter, it sounds really nice and I’d probably get 1/more if (going on what other people said here):

NO STROBE (like seriously, why does every light have to have that accursed mode?!?)

• brightness memory

but the really nice options are:

• built-in charger (just in case)

• red/green indicator

so I’d be tempted, but…

I have read Zeroair”s review of this light over on Reddit & although not disagreeing with his opinion of this light my opinion is that he is a little harsh on it.
At the end of the day it is a $10 dollar light with built in USB charging, & an illuminated switch that shows cell status & charging status.
It always turns on in high then ramps down to it”s lowest setting, flashes, then ramps back up to high, flashes, ramps back down to low.
At any point you click it off then back on & it will be in high.
My 2 don”t have to bad a tint or beam.
For what I want to use them for for they are ideal (actually they are mainly for my wife to use)
Yes they are cheaply made, yes the emitter is fake & yes the lumen claim is false but at the end of the day they are about $10.
Now you could get say an S2 for similar money ( I have a couple) which is a better made/quality light but does not have the features this light has & to me (especially my wife) these features are handy.
My 2 cents worth

You can get for less than 14$ a Eagle Eye X2R

Which is basically identical to an S3 with build in charger, no pill solid head

bella-headlight,
thanks for your information on these edc flashlights,i was trying to decide on a cheap 18650 edc.

thanks,randy w.

What about 10 dollars are you talking about? It’s only $7 on aliexpress.

PWM frequency is ~20 KHz. Nice for $7 flashlight…

Please provide a link.
Thank you………… :+1:

Super Brigh Zoom 5 Mode CREE XM-L2 T6 LED USB Rechargeable Flashlight Torch Lamp 170118
http://s.aliexpress.com/Eve2u2mY
(from AliExpress Android)

$7.47. With cashback only $6.20.

UI is similar others flashlights, no 5 mode.

Thank you Wildcat, I appreciate that!!! :+1:

Thank you. Purchased this one instead. But I paid $9 because shipping was a $1.
What’s the cash back your talking about?
Hopefully this one is as bright as the one on the front page. I can’t believe it’s brighter than a nitecore mh20.

the AliExpress SkyWolfEye for about $9 shipped:

Super Brigh Zoom 5 Mode CREE XM-L2 T6 LED USB Rechargeable Flashlight Torch Lamp 170118

but it is described as “Mode Arrangement: high, medium, low, Strobe and SOS”, not continuously variable as the GearBest version is stated to be. However the description for the SkyWolfEye light also says, “Switch Type: Clicky” and “Switch Location: Tial” (Yes, it says “Tial” for switch location) so maybe the description is not accurate (!)

sure looks like the GearBest model mentioned by OP, though….

I use official Aliexpress cashback service ePN Cashback and get from 17% to 21% back from any purchase on Aliexpress and about 3% on Gearbest. Allways use “double cashback”: Backit кэшбэк (от ePN) - выгодные покупки с кэшбэком до 81% в AliExpress и других магазинах!

So, if flashlight costs $7.47, I will pay only (7.47 * 0.83) $6.20 (it has freeshipping to me). All links are affiliate
