**MULTIPLE** Sales Threads Issue

Thank you very much…I’ve seen it a lot lately and I’ve seen a few threads over the last couple of months about it so I figured I’d chime in :person_facepalming: I just don’t want new members or people browsing to get the wrong impression of BLF. I take pride in this forum as it is the greatest!!

First time I”ve ever wished to see the blink feature used on a web page.

Freeme and Madmax bring the real hard to get deals. I’ve run 2 group buys in the past and they are a pain in the backside. Even if I got a few percent as a finder’s fee (which I did not) it’d still not have covered my time doing it.

Whenever I look at “new posts” I get at least 4-5 affiliate posts. this is very unfortunate and I believe the situation is getting worse. The affiliate sellers should have a way of showcasing their codes and links, but the way it is done right now is very confusing. It can happen that on a random day several posters will update their threads at the same time.

Would it be ok to put them in a subforum where they are not shown in “new posts”? Thanks.

No problem, I understand your good motivation, and thanks again for bringing up this necessary topic.

Sounds good, thanks for being willing to make changes.

In the case of Fin17, I have instructed him to stop posting new deals as new posts after his most recent antic.

This would be great. I have no idea how hard it would be to implement, or if SB even has the time/inclination to do it, but the “Recent Posts” area could use some filtering. Its one of my favorite features of this forum - a way to keep up with everything that’s happening here without having to click through a dozen sub-forums looking for new activity, but the ability to filter out the areas I’m not interested in would take that feature to a whole ’nother level.

This is an option, but I’d prefer to give affiliate linkers a bit of time first to see if they can come up with an alternate solution by making some changes to their style. If you still aren’t seeing improvement after a few weeks, please resurrect this thread or PM me, and I’ll take another look at it. Thanks!

Just looking at the recent posts page a couple of minutes ago there were 11 sales threads out of 25. That’s heavy.

I’m kind of new around here, and understand the concerns, but disagree. My 2cents…

The deals are something I luv to browse thru often. Some are short lived and almost to good to be true.
Just got a $13.53 convoy c8 with xml2 with fin’s discount. I’ve bought hosts that cost close to that… I thank Fin for making that possible.

Keep the deals coming, show all of them, many of us love to browse thru them just to see whats available and whats new out…

They really don’t get in my way, and are easy to avoid. You don’t have to open up a thread you don’t want to read…? and its really not to terrible an effort to click on page 2

I think this is a good and fair solution :+1:

How bout an affiliate linker being required to be a contributing member for at least 6 months to a year, with a 200 post count, before they come spam the forum? Content over Spam

SB FTW!

the deals that M4D M4X and Freeme post are the same as the ones the big vendors post. Im happy for Martin to get a commission, as he has been helpful to me personally.

its the Vendors that are promoting multiple reviews and affiliate posters. They all go into the Commercial Sellers Forum, we do not have to read them.

Its the front page of BLF that puts them all on the first page due to constant updates.

The solution is to not have posts from the Commercial Sellers forum on the front page. Or to use the subforum links directly, and not use the BLF home page, as it is full of Spam from Vendors and their affiliates

Well, as I mentioned earlier, we COULD implement a lot of bulletproof rules, but that creates a more draconian and less enjoyable environment, and a lot more administrative load when it comes to enforcing those rules.

Or page 3,4,5,6,7,8,9….
Give it a couple of years
Personally I detest advertising.
If I want something then I will look for it, I don’t like people trying to make money from me everywhere I look.
Don’t get me wrong, some guys here do a great job getting us deals and I don’t mind them being rewarded for it but I would like the sales stuff to be in a place I have to willingly access.
This is an enjoyable hobby for me, not a shopping experience.

This site is a very significant source of sales. Vendors have a strong interest in Social Media Marketing through this site.

the whole issue is the Home page of BLF is a list of new posts from all subforums, including the Commercial Sellers Forum.

BLF could modify the way the Home page is setup, so it does not list post updates from the Commercial Forum.

or, we could skip all the spam posts if we do not use the BLF Home page as a way to access the SubForums.

It is very simple actually
Aff linkers update their OP only an updated OP is not seen ad “updated” and upped to first position of front page.
When USERS post in a thread (like asking M4DM4X for a code) the thread is updated and I bet the good ones (we know who they are) are seen on the front-page more often.
This would take wind out of the sail for several new posts with deals for aff linkers, still have them have their threads but exposure comes from BLFers not aff linkers

I don’t know how programmable the forum is, but if it were possible, how about if there was a “Non-Commercial sales/Affiliate Links Recent Posts” button under the “Recent Posts” button? Just a thought.

Is it possible for individual users to filter out other users so we don’t see their posts?
