Ahhh, I see…
Yes, smooth reflectors aren’t the 144Ax mates. I tried them in my predator’s reflector, many narrow TIRs, big reflectors, etc…always a slightly yellow center spot. Fixed easily with even very mild 5 degree diffuser. All medium, wide, and diffused optics worked great. I’m sure OP reflector will do OK since this the artifacts in 144Ax are much less problematic than XHP50

Very nice test, thank you Maukka!

Results of the 219B-V1 R9080 are stunning.

But all LEDs tested here perform well above specs. 219C sm573 even achieves R9080-specs, sm503 very, very close.

Couster, i’ve got my LEDs in too. :+1:
Thanks guys.

Nice.

interested for 6x NVSL219B-V1 9080 sw40
(or 3x NVSL219B-V1 9080 sw40 + 3x NVSL219B-V1 9080 sw45)

thanks, Maukka ! nice tests.

Aha, i knew i would have to order more the next time…
I’ll have to take 5 or 6 of the sw40 too of course…

it’s never gonna end, is it? :person_facepalming:

Ok, I just put the 144A in an insulation gasket and tested it with 50 mA from my power supply (sorry for not taking pictures, but I needed all of my hands):

- With aConvoy C8 OP reflector there is a very visible yellow spot in the center of the hotspot.

- With this 52.7 x 57 mm SMO reflector the hotspot is much more intense and there is only a little bit of yellow seen on a white wall.

I guess that the deep reflector directs more light into the hotspot and thus mixes the colors better. When you optimize the focal distance it might become completely invisible, only I do not have the equipment to try that.

My 144A shall go into a McR-27S reflector that I am currently waiting for. When it arrives, I will appentd my findings.

Thanks for the report tuelleric, it is hopeful that the 144A works well in some reflectors.

Thank you to all the organizers/distributors for making these Nichias available! :+1:

I missed out on the first sale, but managed to score a couple of 9080 SW45s and put one in a Zebralight H51 headlamp. It’s gorgeous!

Now I want to fill a Meteor M43 with them. I’m sure I’ll drop some into a few other lights as well.

I’ll need about 15 more 9080 SW45 emitters please!

I see the m43 being the perfect host for these 9080 LED’s. That way you have enough of them to get some good output and it would make a truly amazing photo light.

I took a few pictures today with my triple 9080 and the color is fantastic. It really does make every other LED I own look bad.

Got my LEDS today? A couple mods planned for tomorrow. Need to find a suitable host to try the 9080!

Is there any beamshots so far of 9080?.
Mine are going into a triple s2+
Thanks.

Got my McR-27S today. The hotspot also has a light yellow center, but not as pronounced as with the C8 OP reflector. Maybe the XM-L gasket that I use does not adjust the 144A in the optimum focal distance. I still have to check that.

I have not even gotten my leds yet, and I’m already planning what leds to buy on the next sale.

I’d say 6 sw45 9080, 6 sm503… and I’ll leave it at that for now.

I suppose we can’t actually make reservations yet, though, can we?

Also, thanks for all the tests maukka. That r9 value of 97 is insane.

When you will receive these 9080 sw40 LEDs ?

I really have no idea :frowning:

Just got a-not-so-pleasing info from Nichia:

- No stock for all Ra9050 and Ra9080 219B/C series. The lead time could be anytime between 1,5 - 2 MONTHS!

  • Nichia headquarter decided to (temporarily?) stops the sw45k production. Don’t know why. 4500K has been a rare CCT in Nichia these days. My earlier sm453 9050 144A purchase delayed by almost a full month. Then I only got sw45k 9080 219B in limited quantity.
I’m still trying to get whatever stock left there.

- Clemence

Correct, reservations can not be made until the new Group buy thread is posted and then it is on a first come, first served basis.

A link to the new thread will be posted in this one I am sure.

+1 Correct!

Welp, now we wait a few months for new stock on the 9080 219b, and some sm503 219c.

After seeing maukka’s results, the sm503 219c could almost be binned as 9080. And the results for the 219b 9080 are nothing short of spectacular.

Is there any data or cri tests for the 319a emitters?

I am pussled about that if you mean cooler than the spill. I would have expected the opposite?
Is’nt the hot spot supposed to be warmer as the reflector collects the (sideways) rays that have passed through most yellow phosphor?
