ThorFire Official Deals- Save 45% on 500 Lumen TG06S flashlight($9.89), 6th Dec 2018 Updated

Me too. It’s in my country :frowning:

I ordered 10! :(I hope they weren’t selling a shit batch under the guise of a group buy…)

EEEEEbowler…. 10!! WOW. Not such a good deal now. I really hope you get a few good ones in that load. I feel ripped off of $40, $100 would make a sore spot for a Long time.

There are pics of reflectors out there we had on the last batches. I think mpache? posted one but there were also issues with variations in those too. I had one that would focus to a black hole in the spot and my other didn’t. Different reflectors in each. This batch is just absurd. Having to shim 4-5mm is uncalled for. I also found a USED LatticeBright MCPCB at the bottom. Yes used… as it has solder on the emitter pad making an unstable base and practically NO thermal contact to the shelf in the head. . All 4 lights had odd artifacts around the spot like it wasn’t centered. Looking through lens it certainly looked cenered and I was thinking it was weird. Now I know why as the pile of crap under the emitter was not parallel to the shelf. I am really pissed off with Thorfire passing off these lights to this forums members. Obviously seconds made of whatever was available to throw some lights together to make some money off us.

I now own more than 10 thorfire lights. I have let a couple issues with previous lights pass by without calling them out. I will not let this purchase pass without resolution. My first was a TG06 that shorted out within 5 minutes of use, swapping between AA and 14500 batteries. Driver was loose and I was not aware of it and shorted it out after owning for 5 minutes. Another was one out of three previourly bought VG10 that had another bad (different) reflector. I could not get the black hole out of the center of the spot. I accepted it as I wanted to make one of those a triple anyway and 2 out 3 were good.

Trying to be loyal to the brand I also purchased 3 more lights that arrived this week. Second TG06 and darn right I reseated the driver and tightened it into its seat properly. I wanted to have the option of AA or LiIon. That one seems OK so far. Another was the TS3A stainless AAA which is kinda similar to the SF348. Nice light but it has unavoidable Strobe and now hate it for that. But this one had a piece of O-ring sticking out of the head and body, yes it was Cut and No there were no replacements in the box. Thanks Thorfire. Third is the KL02 and that also seems fine except the tint is too cold.

I have only completely taken apart one of the VG10 and not touching the other 3. It is obvious the other 3 have the same stack under the emitter. First, face down on the shelf is the used LB MCPCB, Second is a smaller diameter machined aluminum disc with the actual emitter on its MCPCB on top. There is white goop between the parts of the stack.

This is just sad :(

You can say that again.
Come on ThorFire, care to comment about this?

Interested in VG-10 please.

I have 4 to sell Ya. I am an honest seller. Posted Pics of the defects earlier.

it is unwise to pawn off the defect lights in a group buy. While most people would never notice or care about things like this, BLF’ers will both find out and be very unhappy about this and it really hurts the brand name on BLF when something like this happens.

Look at astrolux and manker, they now make some ok lights but because they screwed some people over in the beginning many still refuse to even try them.

I totally agree with Texas Ace. I only buy this light because I thought athorfire is the only somthingFire named brand which I can trust and give a fire brand a chance. And thes screwed up. This is my first Thorfire light. And now I’m not very happy and afraid that they will make the Q8. I hope they dont want to slap that together like this. I have an M1 which is a very good light and apmost same in specs like VG10 but now I cant use this VG10 like this anyway and I don’t want it.
Nice heat path… Led-solder-top star dielectric layer-top star aluminum-heat paste-alu disc-heat paste-bottom star aluminum-bottom star dielectric layer-some leftover solder-heat paste-and the very thin shelf. You almost can afraid of frying the led at 2Amp. That is bad!

Hi folks, We are very sorry to hear about that this batch of VG10 flashlights turned out to be so disappointing. We sincerely apologies for the problems you have been with and we will take the responsibility to help solve this issue. Anybody who bought the VG10 flashlight from us and have quality problems, please PM me for customer service.

As you are professional and enthusiast in flashlights. That’s why we are here more to hear your comment and suggestions in order to improve quality and service. And now we are paying more attention to structure and craft for an upgraded version.

With regards to the group buy, we never had it on BLF before and this is the first try, because many people from other countries except USA hope that we can have deals here. But it seems that we mess it up this time :person_facepalming:

Thank you for the reassuring words Thorfire. They mean a lot and I have no doubt you will back them up in deed. PM incomming.

how did u guys get the bezel off? after reading this thread, i wanna check mine. but mine is very tight.

  • nevermind. i got it off. i used latex gloves. and i just checked. mine is the same. 2 spacers. and i got mine from amazon.

Pulled mine apart and it looks like its fine with no spacers. Will look at it closer tomorrow. Beam profile looks pretty good too.

edit… no spacers in mine. But there is no o-ring sealing the lens, and the lens just sits on top of the reflector, so there is no way this could be IPX-8 water proof or water resistant.

Hi Prometheus,

I pushed the bezel against the corner of a peice of pine (a soft wood) and turned. After removing the bezel, I then used a pick to gently pry out the first O-Ring. Then I used the pick to gently pry up the reflector.

Texas_Ace,

The led shelf does appear to be thin. It isn't flat on the back side (by design to clear the inductor). The thickest part is about .05", the thinnest part about .04" (about 1mm). All three of my VG10's had the short reflector and stack of stuff under the base.

thanks ImA4Wheelr. i got it off now.

isn’t the centering ring a bit too tall?

My 1x VG10 is still on the way. I never pry the insides of a light before, but seeing this fiasco, I might as well have to try.

Bad news from me too.
