EAGLE EYE X9 XHP70LED inside Hard Light flashlight 26650/18650 3800LM

Jim, you are missing a trick with the X6 shape imho. That was and still is a very popular flashlight. As I suggested to you before via pm, if you can upscale the same shape as the X6 with a more powerful led, you will be on to a winner once again.
It’s clear to be seen on this forum alone how popular the X6 is.

I was on the team for the group buy with the X6 when it first came out. I tested it, hard, even tossed it out the window of the car at 60mph and video’d it skittering down the road. The damage was negligible, the light still worked. Seems like we had some 1200 lights or maybe more, in that group buy.
I’ve built some 35-40 X6’s, have 11 here even now. It’s just a personal favorite, very nicely made light that allows itself to all sorts of modification. I was the first to build a triple with the CUTE-3, a quad with the CUTE-4, and the results enticed many many more to do the same. I still think the Triple X6 is my favorite light of them all, and this is with some 400 builds behind me.

It looks great, feels great in the hand and has so many options to modify as well as good heat handling.

I also hoped this would be the big brother to the X6 but was also sadly disappointed.

I honestly don’t know if upscaling would yield the same benefits as downscaling, the X5 is a very neat little 14500 light with bigger light capabilities. In the smaller form I still love it, not sure about a larger form. Maybe I’ll give it a go on the lathe after this photo shoot coming up this week/weekend….

Sounds good Dale. Interesting little project

Anything new about this light? Has someone received one until today?

No new info since last post.

OP - could you please give an answer to the above question as to which 26650 batteries you recommend to work best with the X9?

Made in China,it’s good. :sunglasses:

I’m very tempted by this new X9 but was expecting a slightly lower price.
Being a direct opponent of Convoy L6 and Thorfire S70(S) I would expect a similar price (in the 50$ area).
I much prefer your form factor however, with much less weight (okay, less thermal dissipation too)

If you look at prices from the factory stores you’ll see the Convoy L6 is $65 and the S70s is $70, so the X9 is cheaper than both. (BTW, Jin Lang is the factory Eagle Eye store)

I think your seeing those cheaper prices at non-factory stores where they are discounted more. If Banggood or Gearbest start carrying the X9 model I’m sure the price will be less. It’s still very new, though. I haven’t even seen a single review so far.

I’m sorry, my friend, but the cost is too high, the host, driver,LED,and transportation cost, please forgive. :frowning:

Hey, nothing to forgive don’t worry
I’m sure you will sell plenty even at this price ! It’s still stylish and powerful, but you know how we are at BLF

I got my Eagle Eye X9 in the mail today.

Looks very nice, the SS bezel is robust and really trims the light well. Reflector is deep, beam profile has a tighter hot spot than I expected to see. Color is white, initial look shows. It has a nice tube inserted to allow use of 18650’s so I stuck a pair of LG MJ1 button tops in and checked it out…

0.04A for 40.71 lumens
0.58A for 710.7
1.62A for 1683.6
4.84A for 3211.95

Nice! I’m expecting some 5000mAh LiitoKala 26650’s soon so I’ll see how those work. Meanwhile I’ll play around with a few other cell choices and let y’all know if there’s any major changes…

Thanks Mr. Fang!

Could you give us a quick word about the UI?

Is it one click to on with memory?

Extra clicks cycle through modes?

Press and hold for off?

I’m just guessing.

Does the driver size and shape look like it might fit the L6?

Thanks

Press and hold for approx 1 second on/off. It has last mode memory. L-H direction on mode changes. Double click when on for Strobe. Single click to change modes. Strobe is the tactical type with ~6 fast blinks then a flurry then repeat.

Driver looks to be 20mm.

:confounded: :weary:

Ah, I guess it’s official. All the lights in this style (L6, S70, S70s and X9) will accidentally activate strobe if you cycle through the levels too fast. I get so fed up with this design.

Is this the current trend?
Do customers want this?

What is wrong with a click on/off and press and hold to cycle the modes?

Don’t even have strobe, but if you must, then a double click with the above suggestion would assure you never accidentally activate it.

It makes me want to stick a stock FX30 in my L6 with a resistor mod. It has press and hold for strobe which is great. I’ll just live with the closely spaced levels and 3 minute turbo timer.

A click on/off leads to accidental on and drained batteries at the least with fire potential high on the list.

Why exactly do you need to cycle through the modes so fast?

Edit: On this one, you can run through the modes quickly without activating strobe. Strobe takes a fast double tap that is almost difficult to do.

The reflector is 46.8mm in diameter at the opening and 47.4mm deep including the centering ring! Well made, heavy construction. The mcpcb is copper but I don’t know if it’s DTP at this point. The driver is one of those that has the vertical board coming off the 20mm contact board, haven’t taken it out yet but I can see the inset feet from the board on the contact board. Not glued.

Wait till y’all see one! The SS bezel is a CHUNK!

Little late to the party, but just ordered one. I cannot resist SS bezels like this one has. It will sure get ramping Narsil.

Me too - Dale if you get time, love to see details on the innards. If it's a straight 20 mm driver with an external mounted switch, that's great.
