What should i replace a faulty Utorch 01 with?

My Utorch 01 failed just over a weeks after reciveing it, i havent even recieved the 14500 batteries to go in it yet yet. So what should i replace it with? I love the form factor and light output, 400 on a decent LSD AA is just excellent.

Is there anything else comparable apart from the £32 Klarus Mi7?

Any help gratefully recieved

Jetbeam 1mk, depends on do you like rotate switch(in my case. No, i prefer click one)

Thorfire tgo6 is decent. And only $10.72 on BG with code 86782b.

Note that the Jetbeam Mk-1 (XP-G2 SMO) is more like a thrower while the Utorch 01 (XP-L OP) has a less intense hotspot. I have both and the difference is quite visible.

Hi there,

I was considering the Mi7 myself however I really enjoy the UI of the Zebralight SC52w L2. This light is just perfect in size and beam pattern for EDC. You can use AA, NI-MH or 14500. There are 3 primary light levels to choose from L1 > M1 > H1 and you can have a secondary level in each group. I know this sounds confusing but just check out the UI demo on youtube. It is the best UI I have used. Very efficient light with a battery check option built right in.

You can get the MI7 for a lot less. Check with Tatasal. He is a member on this forum

Thanks for that, to be honest one of the big things with the Utorch is how ruddy bright it is on only a AA i bought some 14500 but they still havent arrived when it was long dead.

Preferences are for a button rather than a twisty though seeing as thats exactly what broke on the Utorch maybe i should reconsider.

So decent brightness on AA (300) with the opition to go 14500 and brighter would be great. I generally prefer floody torches, S2 i have seems much more useful than the C8.

Ive just been offered a code for the Klarus under twenty bucks which seems excellent and there is an offer for the titanium one for 30.

Any more thoughts?

Check out the Lumintop Prince mini

can you send me a code, under 20 buck, mi7 is really hard to bead

I use my titanium Mi7 every day, cost twice that and still i think it was one of the best purchases I’ve ever made.

The reason why chose the Utorch over the Klarus MI7 was the mode spacing. There is no medium on the Klarus.

I ordered my Utorch from GearBest on February 13th and still haven’t received it. According to the tracking it arrived in the US on February 23rd and S still sitting there. You might be better off ordering from Bangood.

Get the Manker E11, its the original that the Utorch trying to knockoff clone

Hope you get a free replacement UT01
or you’ll be missing out on a great light.
In this case, one bad apple doesn’t spoil
the whole barrel.

The fnny thing in my Utorch UT01 is the driver is printed with Manker

And even when Gearbest sticker on box says 5000K NW the light has a 6500K cool white LED

The Utorch is quite brighter with AA than my Jetbeam Jet-1 MK, but a lot more floody so the throw is the same while the Jetbeam has longer runtime

You can modify both with a Nichia 219 LED for high CRI
But the Jetbeams bezel is glued and not easy to open

How much would it cost to send the defective Utorch to me in Germany?
Have you contacted the seller for a replacement or refund?

I’ve been bitten by the bug recently and of all the torches I’ve bought ( Convoy S2+, A6, C8 and a few more) it’s easily my fave. All you really need brightness wise in a beautifullysmall package.Love the front clicky as well and that it runs so well on eneloop style batteries.

Hopefully I’ll get another from gearbest but there are now also a Mi7 on the way, a Lumintop tool, a Worm v04 and a Astrolux A01 on the way to try.

I think i better calm down or I’ll be divorced and broke by summer.

This for sure.

They are known for bad switches.

Bob

Anyone care to speculate how the switch will hold up to long term usage? Educated guessed better than wild ones of course

Just order 3 replace switches
Gonna last for a long

Where did you get them from?

I will defintely try and replace the switch at some point. I’m not going to throw the unit away but obviously ive got to take it apart to measure the existing switch before ordering a new one, there are loads of diferrent sizes and height of these switches.

I have finaly got a message back from Gearbest after sending them a video of the unit. The have offered a replacement or cash, so its good to see they are doing the right thing there.

I am undecided what to do.
