Best throw flashlight for $120

Hi guys. I’ve been lurking on here for a while. I love the forum! I just recently started becoming interested in flashlights after buying a cheap Amazon zoomable LED. I’m happy with the purchase (it was like $12), but I would absolutely love a light that is a little higher quality. I tried using the search tool, but I couldn’t really find much current info on this. I’m looking for a flashlight that will throw really far, have very little spill, and is also very bright. I know that is a little vague, but I’m hoping for a light that will throw a half mile or so. Am I crazy? Iwould definitely mod my own flashlight, but I do not have the time. So I would be so very thankful for any stock recommendations or recommendations to vendors who sell modded flashlights. I have no preference to battery type, but I would like the batteries to be rechargeable (it’s 2017, so I don’t know if I even have to say this). I’m also looking for something that isn’t huge or anything. I’d like to be able to carry it around and use it with one hand without a problem. Thank you all so much in advance.

I have a Nitecore P30 on order, its supposed to throw 618m, not quite a half mile but reasonably close. I will be doing a review on it, though i can’t measure distances but i can compare to a C8 which is our standard throwy light
It will be at least another month till i get it though.

If you’ve got $120 and you are a tad flexible in price reach out to M4DM4X and see if he can sort you out with a code for the Niwalker Vostro BKFA09S - HKEQUIPMENT - 照明及戶外用品

It’s got a claimed range of 1490m so a bit under a mile but well over your half a mile request.

I recently tested it in this photo thread and was blown away by how good it is. Comparing it to my 1km TM16GT I was astounded!

Thank you both so much! I will look at all the options suggested. I am a bit flexible on price. I’m surprised there are flashlights that can throw nearly a mile within in my budget!

My guess is you can easily do 1/2 mile in under 30$ and still have a decent tint and interesting user interface as well ... under 40 is easy as pie .

:) Welcome to BLF

Just go like $30 over your budget and you can get 1 mile with the TN42 if you use a discount code.

Considering that you are upgrading from an inexpensive zoomie, you might find a Convoy C8 a nice next step. Still fairly small, decent throw (especially for it’s size), great quality, and well under your budget. You could have one built by djburkes and pick your LED, tint and driver according to your tastes. Might not hit a half-mile but still impressive. See his build thread here:

I’m looking at the Acebeam T20 for my next thrower. It’s just above your proposed budget but seems to get great reviews. It will hit the half-mile and has a nice, warm tint. For about the same price, Manker U21vn mentioned above also looks like a nice one. For me though, I’ve preferred the tint on the XP-L HI over de-domed LEDs. So I’ll probably go with the T20. Perhaps both, eventually. That’s always the answer!

Good luck with your decision and please post which light you go with.

Hi all! I think I like the look of the NiWalker Vostro out of all the suggestions. That throw distance is awesome. I’ll post a review once I get it!!

Make sure you reach out to madmax first

The first question is, what are your needs? I don’t there is currently any stock light that out-throws the Thrunite TN42.

TN42 is the best stock light.
Rev Victor Enthusiast is the best non-stock light.

Welcome to BLF!

Guaranteed to be better and sold all over the world! He would NOT be in business if stock lights had more output!

A jax z1 would probably fit your needs if you don’t mind 26650 batteries and you could get 2 at that price with different LEDs
